The Green Bay Packers remain unsure about the status of their top two offensive linemen for their Sept. 11 season opener against the Minnesota Vikings.David Bakhtiari and Elgton Jenkins were both removed from the physically unable to perform list over the past two weeks as they recover from knee injuries. Packers coach Matt LaFleur said Saturday he still doesn’t know whether either will play at Minnesota.
“We have no idea,” LaFleur said. “I mean it’s hard to project that without being through practice, see how they respond and getting into team reps.”
Bakhtiari has played in only one game since tearing his left anterior cruciate ligament on Dec. 31, 2020. He returned for the Packers’ 2021 regular-season finale, but had a setback and wasn’t available for their NFC divisional playoff loss to the San Francisco 49ers.

Jenkins hasn’t played since tearing his left ACL on Nov. 21 at Minnesota.
Bakhtiari was an All-Pro left tackle in 2018 and 2020. Jenkins, a Pro Bowl guard in 2020, filled in for Bakhtiari at left tackle last season before suffering his own injury.
With Bakhtiari and Jenkins unavailable, the Packers’ starting offensive line for their preseason games included Yosh Nijman at left tackle, Jon Runyan Jr. at left guard, Josh Myers at center, Jake Hanson at right guard and Royce Newman at right tackle.
LaFleur said the Packers also haven’t decided on whether to remove kicker Mason Crosby from the PUP list before the start of the season. Crosby has said he underwent a “minor scope” on his knee during the offseason, but has expressed optimism he would be ready for the start of the season.
Crosby has never missed a game since beginning his NFL career in 2007.

So the media is starting to notice how bad the Packers line could be this year? Might want to tell all those folks who think they're Super Bowl favorites. Even if Bakhtiari and Jenkins play week one, their IOL is crap. If they don't play, then it'll be a jailbreak for Hunter and Z.

Bakhitiari will never be the same.  His knee is done.  Doesn't matter though, just wait and see how many holds the Packer tackles will get away with on Hunter and Z.  It is going to be frustrating to watch.  The officials will be all in protecting Rodgers on opening day.

Maybe. He hasn't played in almost two years. He's still not participating in team drills, and given his history, they're not going to rush him. Either way, Vikings get a backup or a very rusty Bakhtiari.

Have to pull the old internet "I know a guy" type of thing but rumor is he never fully recovered like they thought he would.   I was told to not be surprised if he goes the way of a Sharrif Floyd.  The guy that told me that could be full of it too but it does make sense.

Rogers makes a lot of players look good; especially OL and WR's...I suspect the Packer D appreciates him too.

But they'll miss Bakhtiari when he hangs it up.

Not a HOF guy, but very good player.

Yes he does. He's really the biggest reason they're still favored in this game. Because if you just looked at the OL and the WR group, there's not enough there to overcome a lesser QB. But oh my, their D sure looks good.

Packers -2
Over/Under 48

If it the Vikings defense is as improved as I think it is this game could definitely come in under in total points.  My biggest fear is they just run it down the Vikings throats.

Green Bay Packers LT David Bakhtiari says he's on track to start opener vs. Minnesota VikingsGREEN BAY, Wis. -- David Bakhtiari, the Green Bay Packers' All-Pro left tackle who has played only part of one game since he suffered a serious knee injury more than 20 months ago, said he believes he is on track to start in Sunday's regular-season opener at the Minnesota Vikings.
Bakhtiari on Monday participated in 11-on-11 drills, something he said he's been doing for several practices since training camp ended. After Monday's practice, he told ESPN he believes it's realistic to expect him to start against the Vikings.
"Yeah, I mean, I'm on the active [roster] just like anyone else," Bakhtiari said.
Bakhtiari missed all of this year's offseason practices and was not activated off the physically unable to perform list until late in training camp. Last season, he returned briefly but experienced complications and was shut down for the playoffs. This offseason he underwent a third knee surgery, which was his third since the initial tear of his left ACL on Dec. 31, 2020.
He was on a snap count during last year's return, playing just 27 plays in the regular-season finale against the Detroit Lions. When asked if he could get through a full game on Sunday, he took it step further.
"I can get through the season," Bakhtiari said. "It's going to be fine. You have to just manage while playing.
"I'm just getting back in the swing of things. So, I mean, I think there's normal rust and then new normal with three surgeries, so just kind of working that out and figuring out what my routine is."
Bakhtiari's apparent return settles the left tackle spot and leaves Elgton Jenkins as the only question on the offensive line. Jenkins, who tore his left ACL last November at Minnesota, also is on the active roster after spending much of training camp on the PUP.
A Pro Bowl left guard in 2020, Jenkins suffered his knee injury while filling in for Bakhtiari at left tackle. He will likely move to right tackle upon his return, but coach Matt LaFleur sounded vague about Jenkins' status on Monday.
"We'll have to find out on Sunday," LaFleur said.
The only player on the 53-man roster who did not practice Monday was Allen Lazard, who is expected to replace Davante Adams as the Packers' No. 1 receiver. Lazard has been seen working out with the team's rehabilitation staff off to the side during practice, but the team has not disclosed a reason. The first official injury report will come out Wednesday.
"I think Allen's doing better," LaFleur said. "But we'll see as the week progresses where he's at."
