Seattle Names Geno Smith Starter
#1
So just weeks after Pete Carroll gushed over Drew Lock, he names Geno Smith the starter. Seattle is clearly tanking. Shame we don't play them this year. 1st time in 5 years we haven't played Seattle.

It's not surprising though is it?  Geno has been there longer, knows the offense, and played good enough last season when Wilson was out.  Lock will get a shot if Geno struggles to start the season, but it's not like Lock is some great young QB.  He might have a little more arm talent, but the dude is a roller coaster in terms of his play.

Well Lock did throw 3 INTs last night.  Also, I don’t know the details of the Wilson saga, but pretty dumb of Pete Carroll to not work it out with Russell Wilson and keep him in Seattle.  Ask Sean Payton how hard it is to maintain the team’s success after losing your HOF QB.  I’m guessing this will probably end up costing Pete his job in the next year or two.

Id think age will cost Pete his job.

Not to me it's not. Drew Lock is trash. Just amused by the big difference between the coach's raves at the time of the trade and early in camp to....now. And, no, that's not surprising either.

It makes sense because of the familiarity he has with the team and system. They will be drafting a qb next year. It was weird to see Barr playing for Dallas, weird enough that the commentators mentioned it.

Pete was in the classic situation: the "safe" system QB with all the tools and zero "fire", or the gunslinger who can put up great numbers and terrible errors at the same rate.

My money says we see both start this season.

Not surprised. Gino has carved a nitch. I'm actually rooting for him knowing its not going to work.

Garoppolo will be their QB after game 1. That's my prediction.
