Not sure anyone in recent NFL memory has been handed something like this while doing SO little. He played basically one year of CFB at North Dakota State. I repeat: ONE YEAR.......AT NORTH DAKOTA STATE.

I think this decision will haunt the Niners.

Oh God I hope so.... Niner fans are about as bad as packer fans when it comes to touting the accomplishments of teams from decades ago....

It won’t. Lance is a prototype QB of the future of the NFL. SF knows it and are being proactive. The Vikings would do well to monitor this situation closely.

We'll see. I just don't think he's that good. Just because he's athletic doesn't make him an NFL QB. He needs to improve his mechanics and pocket presence and neither of those are easy to do. But of course this is just my opinion.

Physically, yes. But he's more raw than a boat of sushi. That usually means bad things in the NFL. This kid has not played much football....at all. Other players with similar physical traits who have turned into utter and complete busts have played WAY more college football than Lance. But of course its possible he does well. But the odds are against it in a big way.

He doesn't need to be THAT good this year though. They have a good defense plus a solid stable of running backs and Deebo, Kittle, Aiyuk. To go along with probably the best offensive coach in the league, or close to it. If Lance can hold down the fort while providing some electric plays and getting his feet wet / learning, it will be a huge win for the Niners long term. Jimmy G has played in a super bowl for them and won playoff games as recently as last season, but clearly the Niners think Lance has a higher upside. It's a similar gamble as to what the Chiefs made on Mahomes. That one worked out. This one is TBD, but I'm inclined to trust Shanahan and Lynch.

Rams  have to feel pretty good about their competitors recent decisions. Trey at least has a good team around him. But I will be surprised if it works out. I don't see Murray taking his team anywhere, anytime soon. And the Seahawks seem to be returning to perpetual mediocrity where they belong.

Very similar! That one took them to the SB and also owned GB for years so I can see why they’re anxious to try it again.
