Economics...
Inflation hits a 40 year high in February...even before some of the most recent gas price jumps....60 cents in the last week. Thank God we have the grown ups in the Whitehouse...lol.. so we could go all 70s retro on the economy.

funny that you mention this,  I saw this yesterday and was a little smacked with the similarities.

I've been on conference calls with some engineers/scientists at Haliburton and Baker Hughes in the past few weeks.  Usually, when oil prices are high...there's a big increase in infrastructure spending.  Both Baker Hughes and Haliburton say most new investments are coming almost exclusively outside the US due to concerns over policy direction/stability by the current Administration.  Nobody wants to make significant investment only to have the rug pulled out from under them (cancellation of leases, new regulations, etc).  Ask the Keystone guys how they feel about their investment in XL.

So...I guess it's better for the environment to ship oil from foreign countries than from US / Canadian sources.

We stopped buying Russian oil.  Does anyone think that accomplished anything?  The Chinese signed up for that oil almost immediately and now they'll buy less from someone else...who the US will in turn likely buy that previously committed oil to China.  Everybody shuffles their oil purchases around and nothing changed except the speculators and oil companies use the chaos / unknown to drive prices up.  At the end of the day, the US and Europe not purchasing from Russia has little to no effect on Russia unless the World is united...and it's not.

My cousin has been up in the Bakken field since very early on.  He echos the same sentiment.  Says everyone packed up and left because they went belly up and you're never going to get it started up again because people are to gun shy to waste their life savings twice.

This thread gets sadder by the day....

This post from the DCCC telling us to thank Joe Biden for the very slight dip in the already 60% increase in gas prices in November due to releasing the strategic reserves certainly didn't age well as well as many promises of transitory inflation and fuel prices in this thread...just sayin.

sad is those trying to blame the war in Ukraine,  completely forgetting that gas has been increasing all winter,  months before Putin started his shit. now the war certainly has escalated things, but it certainly wasnt the only cause,  just the most recent.  However, as a Chevron stock holder for the last couple years... I am kind of smiling... until I think about why I didnt put a lot more in at the time.
Those?  You mean the Whitehouse? They even have a hashtag for it....

Lol,  every tool at his disposal?  You mean like the tool he used to help create this mess.  How about using that pen again to reverse his actions of a year ago and restart the pipeline project and reopen non sensitive areas to exploration and drilling?
At least they had the common sense to cancel the committee meeting where they were pressuring the Oil companies to reduce their production by 3 or 4% per year to hit their 2050 climate goals.  It's bad "optics" to demand reductions in oil production when you're denying there's a war on oil that has caused the US to be dependent on foreign sources of energy.

Wonder if a phone call to OPEC is one of his tools?  Or should I say WAS because they don't seem to be answering the "adult in charge".

Biden is probably wishing they'd never invented Caller ID...

According to the Administration, the Economy is stronger than ever...smfh

"Because ... when you look at inflation, when we look at where we are economically, and we are in a strong, we are stronger economically than we have been in history"

Serious question...does anybody still believe this nonsense?  How are you going to fix a problem...if you think there isn't one?  We've already heard several comments about how happy they are with the high gas prices...New Liberal Order and all.

LOL, had the supreme court not made November meaningful all the Republicans would have needed to do was print this on campaign signs across the entire country:
"We are stronger economically than we have been in history" - Democrats said so.

kind of like our companies automated sales tool that tells us when our customers sales are up/down,  the thing has been going nuts the last year sending me increased sales notices on about every customer every month because their gross sales number is up over 5% or more from the same month the previous year,  kind of a well no shit Sherlock thing considering the costs of goods are up way more than that in the last year.

I also find myself wondering who believes this shit?

They don't care if anyone believes it.  That is why they have this clown out there reading from the script and proclaiming this nonsense.
