"He can scratch his ankles standing up"
#1
Edge coach Mike Smith likes the depth at the position....

“This is a really good room,” he said. “I’m not just saying that to pee on your leg and tell you it’s raining. It’s a really good, young group. … I’m going to tell you right now that Patrick Jones has the best get-off in the group, and it might not even be close right now — that’s how good his get-off is. J-Rob, the first thing you say about him is he’s long. He’s another guy who can scratch his ankles standing up. He’s got the longest arms in the room. And D.J. is one of those guys that can just do it all. Probably the smartest kid in the room. They’ve got a lot to learn, and a lot of them are still like rookies, but they’ve got huge potential and I’m very excited about that group.”

Sounds like some good clay to work with. We'll see if the new staff can bring it out.

Hopefully Hunter & Smith can stay healthy this year. That could allow the young bucks to develop without being thrown into the fire immediately.

It would be great to see Jones contributing.  Then I am sure we would all see and acknowledge the wisdom and foresight  Rick Spielman had in crafting the Ngakoue transactions.

Yep. Important to remember this guy was a 3rd round pick. He needs to contribute this season. He sure has the body for the part. Sounds like these guys are still learning and maybe they are behind a bit as Mike Smith mentions they are 'still like rookies', which is a bit of a red flag.

Give Jones and Robinson a shot.  Robinson seems like he's an ideal 3-4 DE while Jones has the physical characteristics to flex outside and use his speed.

I know what we have in Wonnum, it's uninspiring chase down sacks. Move on from him

Yeah, that sounded like a bit of a dig.  But considering they are 2nd year guys learning a new system, that could be what he was going for.

And I don't quite get the Spielman dig since he drafted these two that the new staff seems to like.
