Yup, dont know how many times it needs to be said, the vibe @ TCO wasn't a good one.

It's interesting they were able sniff .500 the way some of the stuff that went on is being portrayed. Either it wasn't all that bad or the players are (were) one hella resilient. 

I hope the new regime reaps better results.

The mediocrity during the Zimmer era was boring.

Agreed. I find it interesting that a few posters here are not realizing this and still kind of defending Zimmer. Nobody is anointing the new regime anything other than a breath of fresh air right now, but let's not act like the air didn't need changing. It did.

The mediocrity during the Zimmer era was boring. 

It was the above average talent on the roster. It was Cousins, Cook, JJ, Harry, O'Neill, Kendricks, etc, etc. Sometimes I think Vikings fans don't fully appreciate just how talented their rosters have been over the last few years compared to the rest of the NFL. 

Despite a broken GM/HC relationship, a poisonous culture, a brutal schedule, a coach who made countless sideline errors, injuries to key players like Hunter, Barr, Irv, Pierce and Darrisaw, the Vikings finished 8-9, with 7 of those 9 losses within one score. 5 losses by a combined grand total of 13 points. 

Been watching this team for 50 years. We've had our hearts ripped out by wide left, wide left, pushing off, across the body, etc., but I don't ever remember a season like '21, where everything that could go wrong did go wrong. 

But maybe that's the gods getting it out of their systems. Yeah, that's it. And things will turn around for the Vikings in '23.

With each player report, Zimmer's chance of returning to the NFL dims.  A lot of people thought he would land a DC job this year.

I'm not big into guessing, but my guess here is that Z is fine with not coaching this season. Take a year break, make sure you want to coach in the NFL some more, collect that what, $15 million buyout and chill. The guy will be 66 years old tomorrow. I could see him being more of a defensive consultant or advisor than a coach if he still wants to get in the mix. But yeah, the reports that keep coming out won't help his cause if he wants to coach more.

After what he put on the field and how he acted (silent, angry, shifting blame) the last 3 years I would not touch him for any Coaching job, not even DC.  Maybe a Zoom consultant to show young players what a past his prime, grouchy, out of touch great DC looks like and when he starts yelling you can just say oops internet/zoom issue...goodbye.

I am sure it has never been a picnic in NE, but I have never heard any of their players complaining.  Tired of the whining, Boyd has always talked a bigger game than he has played.  This team had no leadership last year, played soft and with no passion or energy and seeing some of these quotes makes me feel it had a lot to do with mentality of several of the players.
