OT- Concerts
#11
I just got back from NOLA on Tuesday
after spending 7 days touring the French Quarter and Bourbon street then the
New Orleans Jazz Fest over the weekend.  Wow, did we have a blast!
So much great music down there and the food and drinks are incredible.
The headliners for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday were Death Cab for Cutie, the
Who, and Chili Peppers (filling in for Foo Fighters), and they didn't
disappoint.  The Who had a Louisiana orchestra on stage including a
conductor, and I've never heard them be better; goosebumps and tears at
times.  We had so much fun.

I tested positive for COVID when I
returned, but I'm vaxxed and boosted and starting to feel better now (worth
it!).

Wife and I have tix to CHVRCHES, Phoebe Bridgers, and Luke Combs this year. Less options now that we don’t live in LA anymore, but excited for all 3 shows. Gonna hit a couple MLB games and going to an AEW show with some buddies too.

Very glad to have events back! Been a long few years. Now we just need to plan another Vikings game…

Cool song, and they played that one too.  The Foo Fighters where there backstage watching them.  I think that made them even more revved up than usual.  They put on a hard rockin' show and a very nice tribute to Taylor Hawkins at the end by Chad Smith.

June 14 is my wife’s birthday so I’m taking her to see The Lumineers just outside of Indianapolis.

August 24 Alice In Chains in Tinley Park, IL
I think AIC was the best of the Grunge bands back in the day.

My work schedule doesn’t allow for many live shows. I’d rather see local bands/musicians, but around me the music scene is pretty dead. Unless you want to see terrible cover bands.

I heard on the radio last week that some guy scored $20 tickets to a RHCP show and thought he hit the jackpot. Turns out he didn’t read closely enough and it was the Red Not Chili Peppers.

I mean maybe at some point you ask yourself why RHCP tickets would be $20… or why they’d be playing a show at Hooters or wherever  :p

If you like rock/metal, do yourself a favor and check out Liliac.  A sibling band, but they are legit.  Their guitarist is very good and I can't get over the lead singers voice.  She is an amazing talent.  They have a bunch of covers that rock and have albums of original material as well.

Bucket list just booked:

Concert at Red Rocks Amphitheatre!!!  Ever since I saw the video of U2 at Red Rocks in 1983 I added seeing a concert there onto my bucket list.

My wife and I really like Incubus (have seen a few times already) and was able to book Incubus at Red Rocks in October (31st anniversary) 12th row seats!!  Very excited, I gave her them yesterday on Mother's Day so I have gifts covered for Mother's Day, October Bday and our Anniversary....plus I get to enjoy the gift just as much.  The gift that keeps giving Smile

Any tips from anyone who has been to Red Rocks are appreciated......
