Andrew Booth - Nice consolation prize?

I always like the idea of trading down and I think Booth would be a good value target in a trade down. You can make a case for Elam too.

One trade that works is 12 to KC for 29 and 30. That's a major leap down, but I like the combo of picks that could be there...

Andrew Booth and Logan Hall
Jaiir Elam and Lewis Cine

And we'd still have our 2nd rounder for a WR like George Pickens or Skyy Moore. I think Booth, Hall and Pickens would be just about perfect.
Wanted to see if this would actually work. Wasn't able to get Hall, but Leal is close. They list him as edge here, but I think he's more of a 5T.

I like Booth but ... he did not participate at the Combine because of a hamstring or quad injury (depending on whom you believe).  He also did not participate at his pro day and will have core muscle surgery now. Core muscle surgery? Isn't that a sports hernia - like Wyatt Davis?

I believe that's what Darrisaw had. Not 100% sure, but I think that's what kept him out so long this past season.

what do you all think about mccreary?  He has had some buzz as possibly the best corner. I cant  see sauce or stingley being available at 12.
before we dig to deep into the cb well, do we look at replacing Harry with another stud ND safety?  I think its likely to high to select a S,  but I have seen Hamilton slated as high as 7-9,  Harry has been a huge difference maker for our D for a decade,  do we pull the trigger on another Irish safety for the next decade at 12 if he were to drop?

this kid is what i think might be the best lock for a all pro in this draft,  he has the length and skill to play cover at the LOS and the speed and smarts to play center field, not to mention his eagerness to stick his nose in there on runs, sweeps, and screens.  his weakness is being put on an island, but honestly what safety can cover a deep zone in single high without guessing?

we have heard for over a long time that zimmer called Harry his eraser,  erasing coverage errors by the LBs and Corners,  why not take a shot at replacing one HOFer with another?  I know safeties arent the most decorated position,  but like TE they are very much the swiss army knife of their side of the ball and the great ones can pay huge dividends.
I’d be opposed to giving up more the our 1st and 3rd for Hamilton if we’re talking moving up a spot or two. But if he’s there at 9, 10, 11?? He might be the surest thing in the draft. I like that in a draftee.

I have zero interest in trading up in the draft this year. The positions we need most are arguably the deepest. Wait it out, evaluate, and work from there

I was thinking if he's there at 12,  that means at least the top 2 maybe 3 CBs are off the board and likely the same for DEs,  if we can't get a kings ransom from somebody wanting to move up ( im thinking first next year and maybe more) then we take Hamilton.  He seems like the kind of player that will pay huge dividends.

I am thinking that this is a perfect draft for us to move down and pick up picks this year and next.  There is such depth at key positions that we can find a starter in the mid to late 20's.
PFF has 10 CB's and 14 DE in there Top 80.  Also some good depth at WR's for our second rounder or if a G like Kenyon Green falls.  I really don't think I would take Hamilton if he makes it to 12.  I think we would be able to get very good value from another team in a move down in that situation.

I think Bucky Brooks has Booth ranked second for CB's in this years draft. Booth could be a very good pick in a move down scenario. I'm hoping for a stud pick at 12 regardless of position. This pick should not be a miss!

If the Vikings can move down, pick up a 2023 first, and still pick somewhere in this year’s first then it’s a no-brainer. I said the same thing last year too. It’s partially because getting that extra first is so crucial, and partially because we are always drafting in this accursed 10-22 range. Feels like every single year. So oftentimes we miss out on the true blue chippers, in which case moving back some then becomes a good option. This year that might be the case again.

I agree with you. Though I get the feeling our new FO will prioritize getting more 2022 picks if they move back, rather than 2023 picks. I disagree with that if that’s what they do, but we do have lots of holes to fill and owners that want to win-now, so I understand it.
