Well I have four edge players going in the top 10 picks and I'm fairly certain that will play out in the actual draft. I didn't add an edge rusher for the Vikings because I think we have our starters that should be an elite duo in Smith/Hunter, and I like some of the bodies and talent we have behind them in Wonnum, Willikes, Patrick Jones, and Robinson. I just don't see edge as a huge need for us anymore.

Great point, there is certainly some precedent for that and yes much rather have the 1st next year. I think the Vikings are in a good spot if one of those two QB's slips to them at #12 as far as trade down options. I would think teams want to get ahead of Houston and the Saints with those two 1st round picks.

Curious what Geoff thinks too. When I first saw his numbers--6-4, 205 lbs, forty in the 4.2s--I couldn't believe it. That's Randy Moss level shit. Then I watched him. Stiff, upright, doesn't change direction well. Looked more like a WR playing CB...turns out that's exactly what he's been all his life (converted to corner two years ago). Guessing he can't catch?
Nice piece of clay though with his length and speed. Should be a terror on kickoffs. Heck, add 20 lbs on him and turn him into a pass rusher.
Yeah my thought as well, very raw but the guy is so damn intriguing physically that if you coach him up you have a special, unique talent that nobody else in the league does. I think worst case is you transition him over to safety if it doesn't work out at CB and you get a lengthy ball hawk that can cover a lot of area. Just a super interesting talent.

I felt the same way re Woolen. Amazing height and speed. I thought Moss as well and then saw he did not make it as a WR. I watched him doing the CB drills at the Combine you can see he does not have CB movement skills. My concern is he is a track guy trying to play football.
Otherwise, trading back from 12 to 20 and getting a second (or a 2023 1st) and still getting Williams would have me celebrating late into the Vegas night.
I like Jones but I get a bit triggered with Cole Strange thanks to Bradbury. And Strange is taller and lighter than GB. Yikes!

I wouldn't hate it. I think we have plenty of mid-round edge depth, so for me it's a BPA consideration in the 1st or 2nd, but it's off my list after that.
But is that mid-round depth a fit for a 3-4? Did any of that mid-round depth play as a standup OLB in college? Wonnum did, but Willekes and Patrick Jones were DEs in a 4-3. I don't recall about Robinson... either way, this team should be looking to add another edge player. It's one of the deepest groups to come out in awhile, be a shame for the Vikings to not address it in the draft.

If we trade down and pick up another second then I would entertain Bonitto in the second round along with best WR available. I’d be alright with going CB, DE, and WR in the first two rounds
Like the trade, don't like taking a WR at 20. Booth at CB, or an Edge makes more sense. Like the RB in the 5th. Not only is Mattison an FA after this year, but Cook not being restructured this offseason tells me he's a cap casualty next year, so the Vikings may as well start training one a year early.

I don't see the need at edge rusher after signing Zadarius Smith. Booth hasn't worked out at all due to a quad injury so we have no numbers on him, plus he's now apparently having core surgery similar to what Darrisaw had. If I'm waiting until Halloween for a player to return I'm taking Jameson Williams who undoubtedly was the #1 WR in this draft prior to the ACL tear. Booth was never considered the #1 cornerback. Good player and prospect, but we need great players and prospects. If we can't get Sauce or Stingley (doubtful), I'm in favor of going in a different direction and looking at corners in the second or third rounds. I'd be good taking Hamilton, Davis or one of the receivers.
