Supafreak84 Mock Draft
#1
This is how I currently see things after evaluating some more players:

1. Jaguars- Aiden Hutchinson, DE Michigan
2. Lions- Kayvon Thibedeaux, DE Oregon
3. Texans- Travon Walker, DE Georgia
4. Jets- Sauce Gardner, CB Cincy
5. Giants- Ikem Ekwonu, OT NC State
6. Panthers- Evan Neal, OT Alabama
7. Giants- Kyle Hamilton, S Notre Dame
8. Falcons- Malik Willis, QB Liberty
9. Seahawks- Charles Cross, Miss State
10. Jets- Jermaine Johnson, DE Florida State
11. Commanders- Derek Stingley Jr, LSU
12. Vikings trade the 12th overall pick and a 6th round pick (184) to Pittsburgh for their 1st round pick (20th) and second round pick (52). With the 12th pick the Steelers move up to get their QB in local product Kenny Pickett.
13. Texans- Trevor Penning, OT Northern Iowa
14. Ravens- Jordan Davis, NT Georgia
15. Eagles- Garrett Wilson, WR Ohio State
16. Saints- Chris Olave, WR Ohio State
17. Chargers- Devin Lloyd, LB Utah
18. Eagles- Devonte Wyatt, DT Georgia
19. Saints- Trent McDuffie, CB Washington

20. Vikings- Jameson Williams, WR Alabama

Welp tried to post and almost the entire mock draft disappeared. WTF? I'll re-edit later

Love Williams, but I don't see him as the kind of generational talent to justify a pick that high, considering he probably won't be 100% until 2023. Especially for a win-now team.

To finish up my earlier thoughts and draft:

Jameson Williams would only be available at that point because of the ACL tear. He was the consensus #1 WR in this draft prior to the injury. The doctor who performed his surgery expects him to be up and running at full speed in 8 or 9 months which puts him on the field in September or October. The point has been made that the Vikings could absolutely take a receiver with their first pick and Williams could be an absolute steal in a trade down. Williams and JJ on the outside with Thielen working the slot makes our offense go from really good to F'n scary.

The rest of my draft went as follows:

(2) 46. Travis Jones, DT/DE UConn- I think we need a difference maker on the interior and Jones is a pocket collapsing load in the middle.

(2) 52. Tariq Woolen, CB Texas-San Antonio- Woolen's athletic measurables are off the charts. 6'4" with a large wingspan, 4.26/40, 42 inch vertical, and the list goes on. Transitioned over from receiver two years ago so is raw, but there is a ton of potential to work with.

(3) 77. Cole Strange, G/C Chattanooga- Our interior offensive line is far from settled and Strange could push Bradberry as a rookie. Vikes have shown a lot of interest in him.

(5) 156. Kyren Williams, RB Notre Dame- Hugely underrated in this draft. Not the biggest, or fastest but the kid can really do it all. Alex Mattison is a free agent after this season and will probably be looking for a starting gig.

(6) 191. Darrian Beavers, OLB Cincy
(6) 192. Cole Kelly, QB Southern Louisiana
(7) Jaquan McMilan, CB East Carolina

I think he could play this season at a high level.  You may not get him until Halloween but when you do, and he comes back healthy, he is going to be a handful....especially if you paired him opposite Jefferson. Worth the wait IMO

I like some of the players you grab. I am fine with Williams and his ACL. Only question is, do you take the 2nd round pick this year or ask Pit for the QB tax of a future 1st instead?

Great point, there is certainly some precedent for that and yes much rather have the 1st next year. I think the Vikings are in a good spot if one of those two QB's slips to them at #12 as far as trade down options. I would think teams want to get ahead of Houston and the Saints with those two 1st round picks.

Geoff, what are your thoughts on Woolen?

I think most here are too focused on CB and WR and ignoring all the pass rushing talent in the first couple rounds.  I'd personally hate it if we didn't add a pass rusher in the first two rounds of this draft.

I wouldn't hate it. I think we have plenty of mid-round edge depth, so for me it's a BPA consideration in the 1st or 2nd, but it's off my list after that.

Curious what Geoff thinks too. When I first saw his numbers--6-4, 205 lbs, forty in the 4.2s--I couldn't believe it. That's Randy Moss level shit. Then I watched him. Stiff, upright, doesn't change direction well. Looked more like a WR playing CB...turns out that's exactly what he's been all his life (converted to corner two years ago). Guessing he can't catch?

Nice piece of clay though with his length and speed. Should be a terror on kickoffs. Heck, add 20 lbs on him and turn him into a pass rusher.
