Treylon Burks is a beast

Just my opinion but this is a really underrated crop of WR's in this draft class. The more I study film the more I like this group, especially Treylon Burks who I have as my #1 WR. I think he's a faster Deebo and his production in the SEC was dominant. Lit up Bama this year big time. Physical player with size and speed who wins the jump ball throws.

I'd say pre combine;

1. Treylon Burks
2. Garrett Wilson
3. Jameson Williams
4. Drake London
5. Chris Olave

All these guys will be first round picks and the second round should also see another three or four WR's come off the board

Thielen will be 32 prior to the season starting and has missed games due to injuries the last three years. Production has been down and Im not sure how much longer we can rely on him and his contract also becomes an issue. With O'Connell bringing in more of a spread offense with multiple WR sets, I'm not so sure that drafting another WR high wouldn't be a really good move. KJ Osborne is just okay IMO but we really have nothing in the way of quality depth. Jefferson needs his OBJ to his Cooper Kupp.
If you want Deebo, although there aren't many of those, Wan'Dale Robinson is a better comp.

Doesn't mean I don't like Burks. I actually think he would fit O'Connell's scheme tremendously in the slot. The blocking he would provide out of 11-personnel would be crazy. That is of course outside of the fact he's also a good receiver.

The worry with Burks a little bit is he's a contested catch guy which is either a pro or a con depending on who you talk to. His initial acceleration isn't great but he's faster than he looks since he consistently beats DB angles. I highly doubt the Vikings will go WR early unless Thielen is moved, which is a possibility. But even then the group is so deep you're going to get better value in rounds 2-4.
That's really the rub. Is a guy great at 50/50 balls, or can he not separate.

Why on earth Laquon Treadwell would you think that…!?  Wink :p

Wan'dale would be a good fit...as would Skyy Moore, David Bell, and Jahan Dotson. Getting one of those guys if they fell to the 3rd round would be nice

I really like John Metchie out of those second tier guys, even recovering from the ACL tear. Big upside and if you can stash him away on IR this year I think he could be a steal
Alabama WR John Metchie III says that he expects to be cleared from ACL surgery in June, making training camp and a full rookie season a possibility.

Peter King with Daniel Jeremiah
2. Good draft for edge players and wideouts. On his overall draft board, Jeremiah has six edge rushers in his top 20 players. ESPN’s Todd McShay has five and Matt Miller of ESPN has six in his top 20. Regarding wideouts: “Just record my answer and play it back for the next 20 years,” Jeremiah said. “This draft is loaded with wideouts, and we’re going to see a massive amount every year.”

I don't know which edge rushers will still be left on the board at #12 and if Sauce and Stingley are both gone...I'd strongly consider taking a WR with that pick. Not popular I'm sure, but with us incorporating more multiple WR sets and Thielen's production dropping due to age and injury, it's a pick that would make sense and be great value

Arkansas WR Treylon Burks:

 * has freakishly large hands

* hunts for pigs (and other things) with knives

* says he's most looking forward to the 40

Man, if I want a pork chop, I just head to Publix.

4X gloves.

There's ~ 5 edge guys worthy of the #12 and another 4 CBs. 3 OTs likely to go before #12, plus Hamilton. I doubt we go WR especially with the depth of the class at the position.

Agreed on the edge rushers. I'm not as inclined to go cornerback after those top 2. As an example I'd take Burks or Garrett Wilson over say Trent McDuffie. There's some cornerback depth in this draft as well as receiver.

Love this time of year though. Let's see how the Combine plays out .

Wan'Dale is listed at 5'11"/185 while Burks is listed at 6'3"/225. That's why I thought with his build and style of play, Deebo or AJ Brown were good comps. But yes agree with everything else and that he'd be a really good fit in our offense. I think we've missed that big physical element in the passing game with Irv Smith being completely unreliable due to injury.
Like you, when I watch Burks he reminds me of Deebo and AJ. I do not see Wan'Dale in that role at all.  Wan'Dale is slippery and elusive but his is a very different approach to football than Deebo and AJ Brown's. Seriously doubt we get a shot at Burks (not taking him at 12) so need to look later in the draft for a WR.

Burks with a 4.55, not what I thought he would run

Ran 4.55 and 4.50 on his two runs. I'm ok with the 4.50 at 225 pounds
