Some draft talk...

Stingley scares the scrap out of me.

Davis is just a two down guy, but in a 3-4 he's pretty valuable.

Linderbaum would have me at Best Buy the following day.

Wilson would be a luxury pick depending on what we do in FA.
Stingley scares me too, but he's such a homerun swing. The medical at the combine will probably end up writing the story. When he is "on" and playing up to his ability you could make a pretty good argument he is the best CB prospect since Jalen Ramsey. He'd be easy #1 pick if he had kept up his pace from 2019.

Tyler Linderbaum, C, Iowa
The Vikings have invested a ton of premier draft capital in their offensive line in recent years, and they've got three foundational pieces up front in RT Brian O'Neill, LG Ezra Cleveland, and LT Christian Darrisaw as a result. But your O-line is only as good as its weakest link, and Minnesota's center and right guard spots still need to be addressed. 2019 first-rounder Garrett Bradbury has been a major bust at center, as his athleticism in the run game doesn't make up for a complete inability to anchor in pass protection. Taking Linderbaum in the first round would likely be polarizing among Vikings fans because he comes with the same risks. On the one hand, he's a truly elite, well-rounded center prospect who has the potential to be a Pro Bowl-caliber player right away. Linderbaum's athleticism, footwork, and balance are incredible, and he's got a powerful upper body. But on the other hand, people said similar things about Bradbury. Linderbaum is a bit undersized and the positional value of centers might not be great enough to justify drafting one this high.

Linderbaum is NOT Bradbury.  LOL   As close to a sure thing in this draft as they come.

The obvious concern with Linerbaum is his size/weight. He's very similar to Jeff Saturday, but I think Tyler could add on another 10 pounds. He sure has been fun to watch for Iowa the last couple of years though...

Meathead Tice had his issues, but he was right about drafting, take the big guy.

Otherwise BPA regardless of position.

Bradbury never had the bulk, wrestling, or just overall toughness of Linderbaum.  He can easily put on the necessary weight as well is the opinion from those that have played with him.

Completely agree with your take on Stingley. I have to wonder how much of his missing games due to injury wasn't embellished being that LSU was just terrible last year and he was essentially a top 10 draft pick who wasn't wanting to needlessly injure himself playing in meaningless football games. Him even being mentioned as a possibility for the Vikings at #12 is only due to injury questions, much like with Adrian Peterson coming out of Oklahoma when we were fortunate enough to draft him.  Supreme talent otherwise.

Starting to see a lot more draft boards moving the Washington kid McDuffie up the draft boards as well and have seen a few mocks of him being selected by the Vikings. This is a good crop of cornerbacks and it's going to be really interesting to see which ones separate themselves during the draft process.

If Stingley and Sauce are there at 12, you take Stingley

If Sauce is the best CB left at 12, you take Sauce

If neither are available, BPA for the trenches so DE or C

I'm stuck on the old chestnut of "the best ability is availability". If he continued his freshman year production, he's #1 overall by a fairly large margin. Is a first time GM going to sign off on a gamble with a potentially huge payoff? Year 1 into a 4 year deal sounds like the ideal time.

I doubt he falls that far.

I like the take the big guy approach myself,  but for me... I want that fricking stud DL.  I am admittedly not up on college ball or film like I used to be,  but if there is a big nasty DT in this draft,  one of the new breed that can eat a double team consistently in run coverage,   but still have the athleticism to kill it against singles and doubles in pass rush... please find that guy... I know  I am not asking for much,  but that 1 player is the key IMO to a top level D..... o fuck,  nevermind, forgot we are likely going to a 3-4,  better focus on O line so we can just outscore the other team.  :p

I watched plenty of the big guy @ Georgia cause I just luv me some SEC...

I would argue we need a DE or CB before a big asz 2 down, 1 gapper.

But I love the big guy and if we go 3/4? He'd be a stalwart for some time.
