This is the NFL now....

Don't be too hard on NFL defenses today. They have been muzzled greatly with the new rules. A strong QB has every advantage in today's NFL:

"The 25 points scored in the last two minutes of regulation are the second most of regulation of any game in the Super Bowl era, per Elias Sports Bureau research." (Bills-Chiefs)

Who are you supposed to blame for this? Nobody, its the game now. Mahomes and Allen are custom made for maximizing a team's scoring potential. And their mobility and pocket escapability are SO important today. Good luck trying to stop either, even with 13 seconds left and a FG needed.

Couple that with the refs so hesitant to call OPI,  or allowing defenders to use force to break up a pass, and playing pass defense is about impossible if you don't  bring down the QB.

Not to mention the “Rodgers rule” where your “body weight” cant come down on a Quarterback.....uh....kinda hard to do when you sack a QB.   Soft.

With all these rules and changes?

One adage holds true - build through the trenches and then grab a great, mobile QB.

DL that can get pressure has maybe never been more important.

half the games were defensive gems, total of 35 and 23 points...  lets see what next weekend holds before giving up on the old addage defense wins championships
