Flip and annoying comment from Zim. But ya'll saw Mond play in Green Bay, right? Yyyyeee. Not sure I want to see him next week.

Yeah for one series which is absolutely ridiculous. I would rather see Mond than Mannion.
Me too. We might learn something. Probably be more fun. But he was awful in the preseason and he was awful in his one series last night. I think he might just be awful.

But what they did last night was the 2nd worst thing they could've done. First being have him start, fail and get pulled. One series, one god-awful throw, and back to the bench is probably doing wonders for his psyche. Once in they should've just left him in there. Let him have his terrible game. Something he can watch on film and maybe learn from.

Davis sucks in practice? Well Dozier sucks in the games…I’ll take my chances

Ive read on another fan site that Mond, Surrat, and Davis have shown NOTHING in practice to indicate they are ready for playing time We better hope that is very wrong.
Where would they be getting this insight?  I have seen a few references to that,  but its typically based on the assumption that if they were better we would have seen them play by now... which with Zimmer calling those shots, and his track record with rookies... do we really trust the logic of that asusmption?

but lets say that is right,  what does that say about our scouting dept.,  our GM, our coaches that evaluate these guys prior to the draft,  and the ones that are tasked with coaching them up to get something out of them?  a rookie QB... ok,  but OL and LB,  they should be able to make special teams contributions and back roles as third rounder by late season, shouldnt they?

Yeah its hard to trust anything in this org unfortunately. For what its worth something called “Nordo” said it to PA on air.

I would rather watch Mond get some real time for better or worse this last game than watch Mannion pitch a completely uninspired tie or loss against the Bears.
I don’t like the Zim philosophy of playing veterans over talented rookies either. I hate it as much as Rick trading a couple 3rd rounders for a bucket of 7th rounders and a bag of jock straps. I’m not saying Mond is or isn’t a talented rookie, but the sample size is microscopic. Over the years, Zim made a lot of very good players wait to see the field until one of his limp rag vets got hurt or sucked so bad that they directly contributed to a loss. This last game should be a chance for those deeply buried guys on the roster to get a look. But of course it won’t happen that way as Zim may still have a wisp of hope of retaining his job and will want “his guys” on the field.

Lets not forget Mond was pretty raw for an NFL QB...We all knew he was going to need at least a year to curate. Maybe 2 or 3.

Mannion does suck, but that doesnt mean the right thing to do was put the kid out there on a SNF national game against one of the top 3 teams in the NFL on the road in 20 below weather.

IMO that would have been more damaging to the kid than not playing him.

I dont get the hair-pulling over this at all.
Agreed. Saw far too much of Mond in his four years at A&M. Didn't like the pick then, don't like it now. May eventually prove to be a serviceable backup but I have my doubts. Would have served no purpose to run him out there against the Packers in a must win game in those temps. The larger issue is Spielman's decision to ride with Mannion as a backup. Minshew and several others far more capable were available. One of many questionable decisions by the GM.

Since I didnt see the end of the game, what's with playing him one drive then brining mannion back in? Another head scratching move

Supposedly he was injured. But that didn't make sense. You wouldn't put him back in. I read that Mannion had a hand cramp. I was like from what, it's not like he threw a lot. I don't know whatever, it was bizarre.
