I don't know if he can play or not, but he's got a gift for marketing.

He's telling us he's going to sink without a trace?

  • PROS: Bynum has played a lot of football — he's credited with having started 38 consecutive games. He will be a 4-year starter this year (2020). Athletically, he is smooth and fluid when opening his hips. Does a good job of staying in phase in press and also when locating the football while his back is turned. A very instinctive defender in regard to route combinations. Does a good job of leveraging the football against the run on the edge, too. He's shown very good tackling efficiency on the perimeter as an added bonus.
CONS: Skill-set suggests he’s an outside only corner, which somewhat limits his value. Finishing the rep with INTs is a bit more challenging from press for him — you'd ideally like to see him take the next step in order to get more turnovers. He’s not the most dynamic athlete and doesn’t have good long-speed; so some teams are going to struggle to profile him in regard to height/weight/speed. He also lacks good short area agility when mirroring in coverage, quick footed receivers will test him.

He'll be starting full time next year for sure. Great pick.

Not a bad start for a 4th round 2021 draft pick.  Like I said on previous posts we have to find a way to get him on the field even when harry is back...maybe big nickel.  Need to see consistent progression before we crown him but off to a very good two game start to his career.

Pick sandwiched between Kene and J. Robinson (DE)

Round 4, No. 125 overall: Camryn Bynum, S, CalMy take: After starting all 42 games from 2017-20 at cornerback -- where he recorded six interceptions and 35 pass breakups -- Bynum is making the move to safety. The Cal standout said every team he met with during the draft process asked about moving him to another position, so this doesn’t come as a surprise. Bynum’s speed (4.58 second 40-yard dash) is a bit of a concern as is the ceiling of his athletic ability, so the move to safety appears to be a better fit than where his ceiling would be as an outside corner in the NFL.

Zimmer still got it as a defensive coach IMO.  No comment on the head coaching abilities.

IMO the key here was where Bynum started the play.  Zimmer so often lately brings his blitz from a muddled front where the OL and RBs try and account for every possible defender and typically dont try and help block leaving holes.. and out blitz has been struggling,  however this time Bynum started the play outside the run box and thus wasnt accounted for,  when Vigil abandons the middle and drops into coverage that signaled the center that his responsibility was eliminated and he went to help the OG leaving that big ass hole.  we need to utilize corner and safety blitzes more often if for no other reason than to keep opposing offenses honest in their assigned protection lanes which will help our DL in not being doubled so often,  if that center thought there was a chance that Bynum or Woods would come shooting down that gap he doesnt go help double our DT.
