Now opposing coaches have some tape, I am curious to see how this all plays out week to week on a forward basis.

Certainly a stellar debut.

Tape usually takes at least 6 weeks to show tendencies.  At least it used to.

Even though there is tape now on the Viking offense don't expect it to stay the same for every opponent.  In the past it seemed like it never changed no matter who they played next.  Tendencies stayed the same, formations stayed the same, and play calling seemed to stay the same.  I think KOC will look at the next opponent and come up with a game plan to exploit what ever weakness he finds on the other teams tape.  If the team that week doesn't allow him to run what he wants, chances are he will make in game adjustments that we rarely saw in past seasons.

Loved how they used Hammer and Mad dog in a power set and ran power inside. This plays to the strength of Mattison, he has shown his vision in zone reads is not good.

I suppose next up in this set is play action and get it to Irv in space. Jet sweep, jet sweep fake, pass to jet or backside screen. loving the possibilities

It's interesting how some thought CJ would be cut because LA never carried a FB.  It was mentioned during the game how KOC was very excited to have a player like Ham already on the team, and wanted to use him like the 49ers do in their power running attack.

It doesn't seem to me like KOC just wants a McVay copycat offense.  I think he has his own ideas and he has learned from an assortment of very good/great coaches.

O'Connell is a well prepared, smart guy that just seems like a natual fit here.  Is anyone still wishing the Vikes hired Harbaugh? B)

It didn’t look like they pulled out all the stops on play calling to me. They pretty much just got JJ the ball. That leaves plenty to work with going forward.

This and the ability to evaluate players that fit their system are major differences. This week they will concentrate on containing Hurts in the running game. Vikings defensive success will be a decisive factor in the outcome.
These coaches are innovative and I can't wait to see how they attempt to accomplish their goals for this game.

Being willing to mold the offense to the players in hand is a huge positive.  Too many coaches come in and need to gut the roster to put their scheme in place.  Then by the time they have rebuilt the roster, their honeymoon is over.

Good insight on Oconnel using concepts from Shanahan and Mcvey.

i was among the doubters on how both Hammer and Mattison fit. SSS, but Oconnel seems to know how to use talent as was said.
