No, actually polio was eradicated by a vaccine developed by scientists decades ago, at a time when people were smarter and didn't see everything through a political lens.

Which would be relevant if this vaccine actually prevented the virus, transmission of the virus, or mutation of the virus, it does none of those things, so what is the point of this thread?

Let the thread go where it’s going to go. You are not relevant, the vaccine protects the vaccinated. WTF how can you say prevented a virus in pandemic that has already occurred. If you had a clue about virus mutation you would STFU and not appear to be some kinda wish washy rube from BFE. When was the last time you asked the point of a thread on the ST board, surely not when any of your but, not butt, buddies starts a echo chamber rant.

Come on Jimmy. The vaccine significantly reduces symptoms, % hostpitilization, % icu and % dead.
The expectation that it would erradicate the virus was either over sold to you or most likley over promised by someone in the media. My primary care doc said in December (we were both tracking it in China) that we wouldnt erradicate it and my BIL (epidmeologist) said the same thing very very very early on.
So Id kinda put erradication in the same bucket as assuming our defensive backfield was going to be better. Wishful thinking.

PF was trying to make an point by drawing an equivalency to a vaccine that actually worked as he was intended. It essentially eradicated polio as he posted. Yes there has been a shit ton of rhetoric about how these vaccines would get covid under control, it would be done, and life would return to normal. I have agreed with your sentiment that it would at best become a seasonal shot, but it would become a game of whack a mole that in bad years will still kill many and cause regional outbreaks that will require the return of the panic from last year and the measures that result.
PF knows we are good, but its these baseless digs and shots by both extremes that keep the trench wide deep and full of alligators on these subjects. Like the potential merits of ivermectin as a treatment, even mayo doctors have said that trials using it have merit and deserve further study, but all there is are smart ass comments about horse dewormer.
