Beyond frustrating.....
#1
Just another bitter pill for Viking's fans to swallow. Haven't been this deflated from a loss in awhile. I wouldn't say I was angry when Joseph missed, I just was like 'wow.....no way that just happened'. I tend to feel badly for the kicker in those situations, can't help myself. Joseph probably thought, "maybe I got my career back on track in the NFL after taking a year off' and then just like that, its all up in the air (no pun intended). Arguably, there was more pressure on him last week for the long FG to take it into overtime. Its hard to know and I dont pretend to understand the psychology of kickers.

It sure seems like we can't have nice things, doesn't it Viking's fans??

I was more frustrated last game because they kept shooting themselves in the foot. I was frustrated this game and somewhat pissed but I am more waiting for the housecleaning that should be coming finally. There has been more than enough time. I feel like fresh eyes and innovation are needed. I didn't even watch the kick because I thought it would be a miss.

Frustrating loss. Vikings cleaned up everything from week 1 only to lose because of the one thing that was not a problem...until it was.

I blame Viking fans. Viking fans put too much shit into the universe. Millions of 'em everywhere thinking, believing that a kick will be missed...and so it's missed.

Nope. Fans have been here throughout the nonsense. The players and coaches own this. It's time to put up or shut up. Kudos to the OL for the lack of national embarrassment. Cool to see Osborn have an impact. Cousins got them in position to score. It's still another loss.

And that's the toughest part about this loss. Vikings cleaned up their week one mess, played well enough to win, really should've won, but lost again. Every week finding a new and exciting way to crush our souls.

When I saw the kick sail left, it was an instant flashback of all of the past "gut punches".  I look forward to watching each week, it is one of my favorite things to do and I really try to just focus on just enjoying the game, but I often get pulled in deep and end up sitting on the edge of the couch and then pacing and ending up with a feeling of disappointment!

I have come (already) to see this season as a placeholder.  Zimm will win just enough games to screw our draft position and to crush our souls, but not enough to save his job.  As I know my soul will be crushed, I have accepted my fate -- so it hurts less.  There will be things to enjoy during the season, games won, games lost, individual improvement -- but I am thinking of the season as preseason for '23-'24 when the Vikes will be off the Cousins contract, the new coaching staff will have had a year to mold the Vikings into their image, etc.

I am hoping the Zilfs learned from their last two head coaching hires.

Wow, you see a very specific future. I guess you really are an Oracle. ;-)

All that is certainly possible. But I think it's more likely we make the playoffs behind 10 or 11 wins and both Cousins and Zimmer are extended.

I am generally very optimistic but I am not seeing that. I am hoping that Kubiak can make some progress. Of course then he will probably end up going elsewhere.

BTW, and this is pure speculation, I think one of the reasons young Kubiak is OC is because the Ziggy did not want to hand out a multi-year contract to an OC because Zimm is on thin ice.  Why pay big $ to an OC when Zim (and his staff) could be gone at the end of this year.  Just reading tea leaves.

I also think old Kubiak retired exactly for this reason -- to give his son a chance at being OC for a team with a lot of offensive talent.  If old Kubiak stayed and Zimm is fired at the end of the year, old Kubiak would retire from football and his son would never have walked on his own.  So, old Kubiak retires because it gives his son the best opportunity to prove himself.
