The poison that has a hold on society

Not really mentioned is that FaceBook is also a very effective Trojan Horse by our adversaries (Russia, China, N Korea,) to spread constant propaganda to divide and conquer our own country.  Who would have thought that 20 years removed from a national tragedy that brought us together like a modern day Pearl Harbor that we would be under attack from within.

I hope we really start shifting our military budget away from new machinery, weaponry, and go all-in on cyber warfare and bio warfare and preparedness.
One could dream but our military industrial complex is a for profit money grab by all sorts and "all" politicians - every one - has been since Eisenhower coined the phrase!

The perceived threat from Russia, China, N Korea is vastly
overstated.  Our primary threats come
from within our own country.  Our governmental
and corporate leaders have systematically and repeatedly chosen actions that
have been transferring wealth from the vast majority of Americans to themselves
and to Asia.  We’ve lost our manufacturing
base and can’t even manufacture essential items anymore.  We’ve got a corrupt political system that
leaves the citizens with no power, as we typically only get to vote every 2,4,6
years, and we get to pick between candidates that are preselected to be
corrupted.  When politicians do bad
things, there is no legit process for holding them accountable.

Our mainstream media has devolved into what everyone
complains about social media.  They’ve
repeatedly shown themselves to be propaganda for the political and social
elites.  You can clearly see this with
regards to Cuomo and Fauci.  They are
some of the most suspect people on the planet and shouldn’t be in charge of
leading anything, yet the mainstream media repeatedly fawns over them (Cuomosexuals
anyone?  Fauci being in the conversation
of Sexiest Man Alive despite bypassing the bans our country had on gain of function
research and then funding the research in CCP controlled China in a lab with known
security issues.)  The CIA is at the
forefront of our Social Media and tech giants.
They repeatedly invested in Google, Facebook, Amazon until they became
the market leaders.  The government has
defined everyone that is a threat to the corrupt establishment as “Domestic
Terrorists or Extremists”.  The FBI has
repeatedly used social media to try to encourage people to commit terrorist
acts.  You can see this in the Governor
Whitmer kidnapping plot where the majority of the people involved where paid
for by the FBI and the actual “terrorists” would have been unlikely to do
anything without all the help and encouragement the FBI provided to incentivize
the action.  They’ve repeatedly done the
same thing to young Muslim males, trying to encourage and fund them to perform
terrorist actions, so they can swoop in at the last moment and save the day.

Social Media is an essential tool for us to communicate with
each other and for the truth to be shared when our government is corrupt, our
media is corrupt, and our corporations are corrupted.  This narrative that people are too dumb to be
trusted to talk with each other is a ridiculous attempt at preventing us from talking
about how corrupt they are and figuring out how to fix our own systems.

facebook is and has always been garbage.  A cess pool of stupidity and selfishness.

Now it’s a breeding ground for misinformation, hate, and a destroyer of truth.  It annhilates trust, friendships, and even families (especially in the era of QAnon and Covid)

End fucking facebook

So glad I don't participate in ANY of the social media crap - no instagram account, closed my FaceBook down in 2009, no Tick Tock, no twitter etc etc. It seems to me that the most uptight / miserable / depressed people I meet are people who's lives are driven by Social Media. Those who avoid Social Media shit seem to be the most balanced people I meet. Oh, forgot to mention the new scourge that idiots in my town use, NextDoor. Ugh!

I have never done the social media thing. I figure if you can call, text, or email me that is enough. My time runs away as it is.

If used correctly, Twitter and Facebook can be very useful apps from a news perspective. I absolutely love Twitter because all in one place I can get beat writer/insider information on all of my teams. This is useful because I leave in Eastern Iowa and no news outlets report a damn thing on the Vikings, Twins, or Twolves. Also, the younger generation doesn't want to sit down in front of the tv in the morning or at night to catch the hour long news segment. With twitter, I am able to follow my news outlets and scroll through in seconds what the stories are for the day and then can choose to read about it.

Sure, narcissism is alive and well on FB, IG, Twitter, and Tik Tok, but I enjoy Twitter solely because of the reasons listed above. BTW, I dont have Facebook because like you, I got annoyed with folks. I believe that was in college too.

I think there's a MAJOR omission in the CNN article about other groups it tends to favor.  lol
