Serious question on GoF funding

Haven't seen much discussion of this although the news has been out for quite some time.  Why is Fauci still holding a prominent position based on his involvement with this?  This whole business gives me the creeps.

Actually there is a bit of information out there out there from quite a few sources, seems to fall into the category of fungible money, like most research funding, your not paying for results, your paying for knowledge.  Here are a few fact checking articles, sites if you are interested and a statement from Ralph Baric, the primary investigator:

And it appears that Scott Hounsell, the author at Redstate, has a bit of background issue's and an ax to grind.
" Hounsell was arrested by the LAPD’s juvenile division in November. In
December, a judge dismissed his claim against the city attorney.
Hounsell
is free on $40,000 bail and has pleaded not guilty to felony charges of
distributing or showing pornography to a minor. He is awaiting a
preliminary hearing, which could be scheduled in February."
