Preseason is unnessecary

Zimmer proved it! Zero offensive penalties and a totally together offense......oh wait.......nevermind. The game has passed Zimmer by. He is on the hot seat IMHO.

So everyone is fine with our lack of preparation in preseason?

Not at all...

OTOH, they played ISJ and disaster struck...

I do think they should have given the starters a little more action, just not sure it would have made that big of a diff today???

All the offensive penalties are a result of not being prepared. That cost us the game.

100% agree...

And maybe playing em more in pre-season would have made a diff? I dont know, it makes sense it could have helped.

But like I said, they played ISJ and look what happened. AT got dinged too.

This is not a revisionist history position I am taking because I said it during preseason.  Our starters needed to play a lot more and in particular on offense when you have a new OC/OL coach/WR coach.  Predictable week 1 results but I didn't even expect all those OL penalties.  This OL looks worse then last year by a lot.  Cincy was the last ranked rush defense the last two years and we didn't run block well.

I think the lack of playing time by most of our starters was a mistake on Zimmer's part.  I can see limiting time if you have a veteran proven unit like an OL.  But we didn't and don't.  Again, new coaches as well.  Like I said the last few weeks this was the worst preseason I can ever remember in my 45+ years support.  The Les Steckle year doesn't count because it was so long ago I'm not sure it really happened.

Didnt they play the starting OL a lot this pre-season? Maybe I'm not recollecting that right?

KC got some action too...They kept Cook and Jet out and AT after he got dinged.

I already mentioned ISJ

Tony Dungy on NBC "Coaches may want to rethink this idea of not playing their starters in the preseason I saw 12 penalties from the Minnesota offense...dropped balls all over the deal... fumbles going in to win the game I don't think that happens if your guys are used to playing"

Tony and I think a lot alike. It will take a few weeks to get this team on track, and we might be buried by then.
