Well, the U.S. really created the Taliban back in the 80s when we backed them against the Russians.
The taliban wasn't a thing until the mid 90s,  the US was backing various  tribes that were willing to fight Russia.
....which became the Taliban.

The beginningMany leaders of the Taliban prior to the formation of the armed group in early 1990s, fought alongside the Afghan Mujahideen against the Soviet occupation in the 1980s.

You people really need to expand your sources.

So now it's Obama's fault?  Bo Bergdahl is why this all went south, yep, staying right on topic.
And on a side-note three of the five released Taliban were helping negotiate this withdrawal agreement.
No, just pointing out your hypocrisy.
What hypocrisy?  You have yet to make a cogent statement!

Was referring more to Skodin, but since you responded, I quoted you.  So touching that the 3 terrorists helped 'negotiate' their absolute win, and the terms they chose not to keep.  One thing that Obama said is ringing true, never underestimate joe's ability to fuck things up
While true,  Biden didn't draft the withdrawal agreement,   the execution ( couldn't be more literal here)  took place on his watch,  and just like Trump did with bad deals ( like Iran or the climate accord), he was handed,   Biden had the option to withdraw from or otherwise amend the deal Trump made.  The failure here rests on this administration,  they have had plenty of time and opportunity to do this right and failed once again to show competency.  (  where are the joint chiefs and sec of defense and state on this shit? )
That is a fair criticism and Biden has said he accepts responsibility for it.  I don’t want to get in a compare and contrast debate, but the two examples you cited were two of the worst moves in the long run in my opinion.  Don’t confuse my position, what is happening in Afghanistan is terrible, but I don’t see any role for the US in making it better.  We were bankrolling a 300k man security force that was total bs and two failed governments that grifted all that money to make this situation.

As I said, find new sources for your talking points.  Biden clearly isn't the most trusted source for news.

Not real hard to find and really an artistic peace of work.

i mean, negotiating with terrorist and guarenteeing the release of 5,000 taliban jackals was a smart move, no?

Afghanistan was a quagmire, always has been, always will be.  Plenty of supporters for this dumb war on this board.

As if we could not learn from the Soviets about the Graveyard of Empires
Agreed.

And what sort of an idiot would release terrorists?  Especially ones that could return to lead the Taliban.
Biden, Trump, Obama, Bush2….do I need to continue?

Afganistan isnt a partisan issue. Both parties have had equall opertunity to fuck that place up.

The U.N. is a s**tshow, but so's our duopoly.  Failure was inevitable.

Joe "you ain't Black" Biden is an embarrassment, and he's barely getting started.  Throw in a VP that may actually be LESS suited for the job than Sarah Palin was/is, and it's going to be like the Quayle nightmare actually happened.

Afghanistan has known little but chaos and hardship for longer than our lives, and somehow always returns to it.
Afghanistan is the Poland of the Middle East.

Tragic and Sad.

Not saying we should be the world's police,  but at the same time should we become the world's mule?  It's tragic what is happening over there,  but at what point does the rest of the world need to stay and fight its own battles instead of fleeing to the US or other places?

Where would democracy be if 250 years ago France would have said screw it and told the American revolutionists that they could come live in France or stand on their own against the british?

Is there a happy medium between nation building and hoping foster democracy,  between playing the worlds police ending generations of civilian slaughterings?
