Who is there even avalible as a veteran that wouldnt be avalible later?
They may need to wait and see.

I'm feeling like an outlier on the board thinking the Vikings are taking a big risk going into the season with either of these kids backup KC.

Honestly, PF....if Cousins gets injured the team is screwed anyway. Mannion made you feel secure?  :p
Nope, never did.

But if they can,  why not try and do something that gives you more of a a fighting chance than 2 very green players?
I feel like the Vikings are finally doing something right with their QB depth chart.  We have a young guy we've developed going into his 3rd year and a promising rookie.  It's extremely rare to have a Case Keenum-like performance where he picks up right where your injured starter left off... I would much rather have Browning/Mond than a veteran never-has-been like Mannion.
Agreed.  Rick finally has actual potential in the backup QB spot rather than the grizzled veteran.  There is a trade off, to learn the potential needs the backup QB snaps, so either you have a future or you have a backup plan.  Glad we are finally developing a future.
