I mean, our offense missed training camp 2 years in a row because of it.  Its kind of a thing.

It is. But this was a discussion about Green Bay and their salary cap  And somehow it went to Raymond on the porch saying its five minutes to Wapner.

Numbers from Sportrac.  Top five contracts for Packers vs Vikings in 2022:
$46,144,157 Rodgers (Can opt out of contract - 20 mil saved if opt out)
$28,130,000 Z Smith (Final year - 16 mil saved if cut)
$22,768,000 Bakhtiari (Second to last year of contract and opt out in 2023. Can save 1 mil post 6/1 cut or 14 mil post 6/1 Trade.)
$19,750,000 P Smith (Final year - 12 mil if cut)
$20,650,000 Clark (Can save 15 mil if move made after 6/1

Roughly 155 Million in Top 5 contracts.  Missing Adams, short of a new deal.

$45,000,000 Kirk (Final Year - 45 mil cap hit if cut)
$26,120,000 Hunter (Second to last year of contract - 19 mil saving if cut)
$13,530,000 Kendricks (Second to last year of contract - 7 mil savings if cut)
$9,890,000  Barr (not signed but counts against the cap)
$7,500,000 Tomlinson (Final Year - Can save 5 mil in 2022 if cut after 6/1)

Roughly 100 Million in Top 5 contracts.  Missing Harrison and PP, who would have qualified in 2021.

So who has the laugh last in this? Hard to say.  Packers could really setup for a rebuild in 2022 if they move on from Rodgers.  If they trade him, Adams (in 2021), and Bakhtiari they could focus on the defensive side of the ball for once.

For us, Kirk isn't going anywhere unless we could trade him pre 6/1 which would free up 35 mil in cap.  Will it happen?  Doubtful.  Hunters contract is an obvious re-work.  Hopefully he returns to form and we sign him long term.  Provided Kendricks doesn't fall off, we would hopefully extend him as well.  Same with Tomlinson.  One thing this doesn't take into consideration is the O'Neill extension that hopefully happens.

I think it was always about getting moved after this year. Love needs to play next year if he has any value to the Packers going forward.

Probably not worth the paper it’s not written on… Wink B)
