A #NFL team called today interested in working out & signing a free agent client. When they found out he wasn’t vaccinated they were no longer interested. The rules the #NFL implemented in reality mandates the vaccine for back end roster type players.

That's what I was saying earlier. When it comes to players on the fringes, it's just too easy to pass. I don't know why ANY player would choose to not get vaccinated, but if you're barely on a roster, it's career suicide.
And I'll bet $$'s to donuts its going to be the same thing a year from now...Maybe 2 years.

I think it will in the population at large. Just too many idiots.

But I suspect the incentive to get vaccinated will be too strong among professional sports teams. I really can't see too many players submitting to daily tests, traveling separately, wearing masks constantly, eating separate from team, no endorsements, no going out to eat.....all because of....freedom?

3rd booster shots are coming for at risk and I'm sure by Halloween it will be for more than at risk and 65+

All because of variants. Nobody knows with certainty yet how long the original vax's will remain effective in any sense either.

My primary care doc is very tied into the local sports teams including the Vikings - not going to say how, but she is.

Was telling me how players will be seated differently on benches game day etc. depending on vax status..

Also advising me that if cases continue to rise (even in a high % vax state like MN) she'd plan on wearing a mask to games.

All this BS would have been behind us (for the most part) if as a country we could have reached herd immunity - that aint happening.

What a shame too.

The longer Covid is allowed to exist because people do not get vaccinated, the more the virus will be able to mutate and potentially create more contagious and more deadly variants.  We have the ability to win this war if people just get vaccinated.  All we have to do is step through the door that science has opened for us.  But the door will not remain open indefinitely.

Good old communism at work.  You shall abide or be put in the stalag.
I get the sentiment as my own hackles were raised at first read on the regulations...

But these guys sign contracts to abide by the corporate rules or don't play the game. Their choice.
I dont see it as communism at all.  Like it or not they work for a private business and of those business owners want to make rules for their employees or business operations the employees can go along with it or seek employment elsewhere.   This is free enterprise IMO at its core.  If enough players decide to walk then the owners need to decide if they want to amend their policies.
Communism may be the wrong term, but I see this as a federal govt on down led initiative, with the largest corporations all playing along against many peoples wishes.  Anywhere from 25% - 35% of the population want nothing to do with the vaccine, and it should not be forced upon them, either by govt or big business.  It's all good and fine to say employers can do as they wish, but that isn't true in reality.  Govt can step in in many areas to prevent employers from discrimination.  This is a form of discrimination that has some consistency with a persons religion, views on abortion, gender, etc.  Should a lady be banned from employment because she decides to become pregnant or to have an abortion?   We are talking about something as fundamental as a person having a right to do what they want with their own body.  I realize that some would view this as a leap, but it's really not, and it sets a very dangerous precedent.

Here's my stand

If you own a bakery and don't want to make a wedfing cake for somebody....that should be your right to say no and there should be no govt or legal issues at all.

If you own menards and you don't want anybody in your stores unless they wear a mask,  thats your right and anybody that refuses can stay the fuck out or get arrested

If you own a bar and want to allow smoking in your establishment,  that should be your decision,  and if your employees don't like it....they are free to seek employment elsewhere.  And the govt shouldn't be saying otherwise.

I think the govt gets involved with to much shot already,  if you want to start a competing league that allows these players to play without shots,  nobody should be able to stop you from trying.

And lastly I dont think its anybodys business why they do or don't get their shots.  Its a personal decision with its own potential consequences and they are mature responsible adults who have the best medical advice available to them who have way way more at risk financially than any of the rest of us so if they choose not to I support their right to not get the jab,   just as I supported my wife when she got hers without being scared into it.

IMO its not political for most, (some it surely is) calling it is just a lame ass attempt to try and humiliate many who are not convinced yet that it is the best decision for them at this time.
Right.  And if you own a hotel and don't want to rent rooms to blacks or jews or people you think may be gay,  what's wrong with that?  Instead, we have all these communist government regulations that restrict your god-given right to discriminate against lesser people (are they even really people?).  Same if you own a restaurant and do not want to serve asians or hispanics.  What about your rights?  And what about drinking fountains and bathrooms?  Separate but equal, that's my motto.  And keep your communist laws off my rights.  That's my other motto.

Yes. $$$$

Vaccines 2.0: Next-generation COVID-19 shots will be cheaper, easier to deliver and protect against more viruses, industry leaders say
Potentially every one of Earth's nearly 8 billion inhabitants will
need one or two initial doses and possibly boosters, so there's plenty
of room for different approaches, experts said.
COVID-19 will not be a pandemic forever, but the virus that causes it will probably be around indefinitely, like the flu, said Dr. Paul Offit, director of the Vaccine Education Center at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.

"Are we going to need to give a vaccine as long as this virus exists in the world? I think the answer to that question is yes," Offit said. "So you're talking about decades, I would imagine."

Stanley
Erck, president and CEO of Novavax, which plans to release its
vaccine's effectiveness data soon, said his company's studies in monkeys
show that giving a booster dose a year after initial vaccination yields
"spectacular results."

"I think we're going to want to do that with humans," he said. "This isn't going to go away from a commercial point of view anytime in the future."

Wow, CNN?  That sold it for me. Lol  They’ve only been trying to totally brainwash us for how long?  When people that helped create the vaccine and very prominent members of the medical community quietly refuse the vaccine in very large numbers, people with a brain start to think maybe just maybe, we”re getting the part of the story those in charge want us to hear.  Of course, that requires you to not drink the Kool Aid.
The number of adverse reactions to the vaccine are far higher than what is being reported.  Members of my immediate family in the medical field are routinely seeing a myriad of issues popping up within one week and are grasping for any explanation outside of the vaccine as the causal factor.
