OT Any cord cutters with Youtube tv and Chromecast Google tv?
#11
I have YoutubeTV mainly because I can use the same account both at home and at our lake cabin.  I think I'll be switching to Hulu + Live TV soon though.  At home on the living room TV the Roku app for YouTube TV is no longer working, and Google support has no answers why.  I can't reinstall the app because Google doesn't want to play nice with Roku anymore, so my workaround is launching YouTube TV from the YouTube app menu item.  Kind of a pain.  I like the YouTubeTV DVR, but really I don't even use it that much.

Wow, they sure wanted to keep your business Jimmy!  Nice!  I moved too far west and lost track of Minnesota professional sports (except the Vikings).  I get the Big Ten channel so I can follow the Gophers (mostly hockey, some FB).  Our total cable bill for tv and internet is a bit north of $200/month.  Too high for our watching habits.  We could easily cut out at least a 1/3 or 1/2 by switching to streaming live.  We'll see though, gotta do some trials first...  I like that streaming services are non-contract, switching to satellite would put me in a contract situation...
Well then,   I was going to you tube TV until they lost balleys/fox sports.  It seemed to have the most of what I was looking for,  but I think that's just an individual preference.  On top of the dish we have prime, Netflix, and one more that I can't ever remember so I never watch.

I had YouTubeTv and outside of the DVR, it is inferior in almost every way to FuboTV.  The selection, the guide, the stability and everything all are better than YouTube in my opinion.

Also with Dish I would lose signal every time it rained and in Florida that is a lot.

I went with Youtube because of the unlimited recording. You are correct though, the guide and selection are not good.

I have YouTubeTV through an Amazon Firestick. Same subscription on 5 different tvs in 2 households. Take the stick with you on vacation and you've got all your channels with you.

I use my computer to stream hockey and basketball games and send to my TV through an hdmi cable or just use my monitor. It works for me. I tried Fubo tv before as well. I did an Apple TV trial too.

Doesnt YouTube TV cost almost as much as Satellite? Our Dish bill in $70 and YouTube now is $65?

So for us, it just doesnt make much sense to migrate to new interface, get the hardware ripped out etc.

We do love our Apple TV 4k interface a bunch. I wish everything was as seamless, clean and easy.

Good points PF, each situation is a bit different.  Not worth a change if no financial benefit.  Satellite receivers have never been attached to my home and there is no outside cabling around the house to where tvs are located.  My personal preference is to stay away from satellite to avoid a contract, effect on home appearance, and potential dropouts from snow or rain.  I have many friends that use satellite and like it, just a preference thing.

On our cable bill, internet access is $55/month and the rest is programming costs, equipment rentals, sports programming surcharges, and taxes.  All other cable tv costs go away (except taxes) with a streaming service and internet will go up a bit since no longer bundled with cable.  We can get all the channels we watch with Fubo-starter streaming service so we could see a 50% drop in monthly charges.

Thank you all for your informative and helpful comments! Smile

Make sure you get enough internet juice to power the streaming @IDVikingfan...
