I'm not a fan of Michaels anymore. I just don't get the excitement from him anymore. Guys like Kevin Harlan who have been in the business as long still seems genuinely excited about his craft and broadcasting. I don't feel that from Al.

Agree, he has gotten very robotic as the years have past...no more miracles.

IMO, Harlan is the best in the game.

I lived in KC for 17 years and a good friend of mine knows Kevin Harlan (lives in KC) well and I got to have lunch with him once. He's one of the nicest people you will ever meet.

He just sounds like one of those guys who's not a douche when you meet them. I used to work at a large Marriott here in Jersey for a long time, and we would have all sorts of celebrities (from very famous to not so much) from time to time. The TV commentators would stay with us frequently for games, and most were actually quite nice. What's funny is that the ones that come off as asses on TV were exactly that in real life (mostly ex-ball players).

I guess it's more about a name brand than an actual good commentator. Of course there are very few actual good commentators. It's amazing how there is so much mediocrity that gets a pass.
