There's a big step-down between Mond and the top QBs in this draft class. Whether Mond can learn and grow enough to do the things a NFL QB needs to do is very much in doubt. But at least he should get the time to fail or succeed on his own merits and not be rushed into anything. Its funny, the local Twin Cities media is like 'Mond is running with the 3s'....lmao, of course he is. He doesn't even know how a NFL practice works yet. He's learning every aspect. Yet somehow he should be with the 2s?? Sigh.

The 2020 game was played in a downpour. Mond played like it, but so did the LSU QBs. LSU's starter went 9-25, 118 yards, 0 TDs and 2 INTs before getting benched.
A much better game for both teams happened in 2018. Mond vs. Burrow. 7 overtimes. Mond threw 6 TDs and ran for another. Burrow threw 3 TDs and rushed for 3 more.

Excellent post Maroon. This is why posting straight stats for any game is limited in evaluating a player without context. Watching the game gives you a better feel for the player in different situations even in a single game.

God I hope so. Wouldn't that be nice? Simms is the only media scout out there whose record on QBs you can't really argue with. If he's right, when Mond is ready to take over this team in '23, the highly drafted line in front of him will be in their primes, Jefferson will be 23, ISJ 24, even Dalvin will only be 27. That's a surround he can win with. And without Cousins money, the Vikings will have a gazillion dollars to fill whatever holes pop up.

Is it just against LSU?
No, he was rather meh vs Vandy even though they got the win. I know I didnt watch that entire game but it was the first game of the year so I didnt think too much on it. He was ok vs Bama, but they were the best team in the country so tough to judge there. I also recall watching a little of the UNC game because I enjoy Sam Howell and again he was just ok.
Those are just the games where I recall him looking like a 3rd or 4th rounder, not saying he didnt have his moments where he looked like a first rounder. I'm just specifically stating times I watched and thought he was inconsistent.
Mond's quick release and big arm makes him so intriguing. He's also mobile enough for today's modern NFL QB. He's not Lamar Jackson, but he's also not Kirk Cousins. The key really, like I mentioned earlier, is that he'll have time to develop. Who knows if he will, but he'll have a real shot to.
