If we are freeing up more cap space, gotta think we are getting ready to do some semi-serious shopping...
Kerrigan?
Maybe or Westbrook. Or both.

We basically gave him away. I think the deal was Hughes plus a7th in exchange for a sixth round pick. we just cut our losses. The upside is the 3 million in cap space. i think Barr is right. it sounds like we are going shopping.

Who picks up his salary cap
Them, I read it saves the Vikings 3M.
I wonder if this is the real impetus for trading him off for so little???
Yeah I see now where it saves them 1.8M with 1.3M dead money.

After the Gladney situation, I figured that they'd hold onto Hughes for depth, so I am a bit surprised they traded him. That being said, he wasn't going to see a second contract here and a change of scenery is probably best for him. I am curious to see what they use the newly freed up cap space for.

It's not like Hughes was on the verge of a breakout season...actually he was barely clinging on to a roster spot with all the injuries and especially lack of game time played.  I'm not going to lose any sleep over this or second guess management over the trade.  Moving on...

Not to mention its the cheifs 6th so it could be the last pick in the 6th round vs our 7th.

Vikings just didn't want to draft Mr. Irrelevant.  Wink

Unsubstantiated rumor that we might target Sherman.

After rookies, post June 1, we've got about $14.5 million in cap space.

Getcha popcorn ready, we're not going to Big Lots...
