Dayo Odeyingbo, DL, Vanderbilt: Somehow the player tied for the most mock-draft inclusions is a prospect who … tore his Achilles tendon during a workout in January. He’s a popular choice as a bargain pick who might not be immediately available. In last month’s mocks, he went at 80 and 90, but in this week’s, he fell to as low as 139 to the Patriots.

Man, would love to land Dayo Dayo 3

Top 5 QBs:

  1. Trey Lance
  2. Trevor Lawrence
  3. Zach Wilson
  4. Mac Jones
  5. Justin Fields
    Underrated: Kellen Mond
Top 5 OTs (for us):

  1. Rashawn Slater
  2. Penei Sewell
  3. Christian Darrisaw/Teven Jenkins tie
  4. Dillon Radunz
  5. Walker Little
    Underrated: Dillon Radunz
Top 5 OGs (for us):

  1. Alijah Vera-Tucker
  2. Liam Eichenberg
  3. Brady Christensen
  4. Quinn Meinerz
  5. Jalen Mayfield
    Underrated: Brady Christensen
Top Edges (for us):

  1. Jaelen Phillips (inj)
  2. Kwity Paye
  3. Jayson Oweh
  4. Greg Rousseau/Joe Tryon (tie)
  5. Carlos Basham
    Underrated: Cam Sample
Predicted draft:
1 - Christian Darrisaw, T
2 (trade up) - Kellen Mond, QB
4a - Cam Sample, DE
4b - Paulson Adebo, CB
4c - Shi Smith, WR
5 - Jamar Johnson, S
6 - Evan McPherson, K
Really like your draft.  You think we need to move into the 2nd for Mond?  I don't think I would move up for him but would love to have get him with 78.  A guy I would move up for into the second round is 3T Levi from Washington.  Draftnicks are all over the place with him.  Some have him at the end of the first and some have him going in the 60-70 range.  Not a great DL class so he probably will go higher then expected - IMO.  We really need a 3T and I think it is being a very underrated need by most.  We got the big boys in the middle but I don't expect much pass rush from either and they will probably rotate a decent amount and that is where a guy like Levi will excel IMO.

My Top QB's:
    1-Wilson
    2-Lawrence
    3-Fields (underrated IMO)
4-Jones (ready to play) and 4b Lance (if team has a few years to develop)

I think Wilson is a star in the making but he is probably going to the worst situation of all these QB's - NYC and the dysfunctional Jets.  So it will probably take a couple years for him to break-out if the new coaching staff can turn around the whole team.

Opposite take on Mac Jones.  If the 49'ers take him he is going to an ideal playoff ready team and in an offense that fits his play.

I am not buying into all the hype on Lance.  Not enough playing time, not enough throws, too many designed runs, too many runs when the 1st read breaks down, and I am usually not a competition level guy but every highlight reel of him playing his competition he is bigger then the other teams DL and faster then their CB's.  That will certainly not be the case in the NFL if he starts running as much as in college.  He is just bigger and faster but he is not allusive/shifty like Lamar.  I also saw a ton of first read throws which is a huge knock on Fields.  I think he is a big development project that will need a few years sitting.

MY Top OL:
   1- Sewell
   2 - Slater
   3 - Darrisaw

Big drop after those 3.  I also think Radnuz is a Guard in the NFL.  Christensen as a Guard target for us in the 3rd/4th round would be awesome.

Edges - I think Basham is being underrated as well.  He fits our scheme even better then Oweh.  I am very cautious about Oweh's lack of production and he might be this years Mike Mumula Smile

My prediction for a lot of people's feelings after the draft -

Sorry, but hate the Mond pick. Too high for a guy who wasn't consistent against college defenses. I wouldn't take him at 78 without a trade up.  Giving up 2 3's and a 4 for him as well?  Cue projectile vomiting.

I'd be happy with Darrisaw though.  Think Jamar Johnson goes before round 5

I've saved nearly 100 mocks I've done on TDN. And when NOT ONE OF THEM has three hits, yeah...I'll have some feels...

Remember, this is not what I want, this is what I'm predicting. And I do think the Vikings will move up, either higher in the 3rd or into the middle 2nd. And I sort of sense it will be for a QB, given how much they've scouted them.

I will say this though. Good luck finding a QB past the top 10 who has NFL-caliber tools and was consistent against college defenses.

I think the Vikings will take their shot on a QB. And Mond is as good a shot as any IMO. ALL QBs are rolls of the dice. Even the ones in the top 10, so I'm not going to nitpick flaws on backup QBs taken after Thursday night. And for what it's worth, I don't look for things like consistency. That is often about things other than the QB. I look for accuracy, poise and movement skills. Mond stood out to me in that regard when I watched the 2nd and 3rd tier passers. In the immortal words of Johnny Rotten, I could be wrong. I could be right.

Now, what I'm hoping for? That will come tomorrow. :-) A little less realistic perhaps, but it's dreamy. And WAY fewer QBs.

I couple of "sleeper-ish" picks I would love to get on the Vikings in the 3rd round at positions of need.   Some draftniks have these guys in the second but most do not that I have seen.

Rashad Weaver - DE - Pitt - very good power and hands and excellent against the run/contain.  Had 48 total pressures last year and around 14 TFL.

Cisco - S - Syracuse - big, strong, fast and a ballhawk. Tore his ACL after 2 games last year but should be fine.

Eichenberg and Christensen played T in college but I think both are Guards in the NFL.

I like Weaver, but I like Ronnie Perkins a little more. And I think you're right about Ike and Christensen. Everyone keeps ranking them as tackles and I think if you put them among the guards, they rank higher. Christensen might be this year's Neville Gallimore for me.
