Follow up,
If they traded their '21 #1, '22 #1 and '22 #3 for Lance would heads explode?

I want the OL to not stink as badly as anyone, but letting Rieff walk for nothing and then using 2 firsts and a 3rd to replace him would be crazy, even if you are getting an upgrade. Big no to that plan.
Moving up a few spots at a much reduced cost would be a lot more palatable.

Its a cost savings move.  You have one of your high dollar starters (LT or QB on some teams) on a rookie deal and you can justify paying other players higher figures.

True. But there's gotta be better ways to save money than by trading two 1s and 3rd.

Oh I get it.  I struggle with, if you trade up for a "more sure thing" in a year when nothing is sure.  None of these OL's have played much in a year.

I really don't want to see them draft on of the DE's at #14.  None of them strike me as one that you get impact out of and with how we rotate players I doubt Zimmer has them playing much as a rookie anyway.

I'm holding out hope that Darrisaw will be there at #14 or that we trade down and take a 2nd tier guy and hope for the best.

MAC JONESQB, COLLEGE PLAYER[Image: Mac_Jones.jpg]
NFL Network's Daniel Jeremiah and ESPN's Mel Kiper both believe the 49ers will select Alabama QB Mac Jones with the third overall pick.Neither talking head had Jones locked in at No. 3 but Kiper did give Jones a 70-percent chance of being the pick. Sentiment on who San Francisco is going to take has been all over the place since they traded up, presumably to take a quarterback. Interestingly, both Kiper and Jeremiah named North Dakota State QB Trey Lance as the runner-up at No. 3, leaving Ohio State QB Justin Fields out of the conversation. Both Kiper and Jeremiah are simply doing some informed speculating but their opinions hold some weight. Jones was originally reported to be the likely choice for HC Kyle Shanahan and the 49ers but San Francisco staff have been present at Ohio State and North Dakota state Pro Days.

I'd be excited!
Trading away future firsts is such a high cost that it really only makes sense to do it for a QB. I'd rather have Lance than Sewell.

Careful what you wish for I know, but for better or worse this move would at the very least get the Vikings out of the "good-not-great" cycle we've been in since about 2011.

2nd round for Phillips... Ouch! I really like this format though with the tiers and the Blue Chippers. Good job Alex Gilstrap, whoever you are!
