Am I the only one that doubts QB Mac Jones?

Pretty bold move for something you only think you know. Time will tell though.

So if Jones is there at 14 does Rick grab him?

49ers coach Kyle Shanahan asked on going to Alabama Pro Day tomorrow, and not North Dakota State or BYU, says it was important for the team not to tip its hand before the trade was done.

"Now that you're up at 3, you don't have to hide as much."
Well damn. I guess there you have it?

IT will be Lance. You dont trade up to 3 unless you KNOW you will get your guy. Lance is the ONLY guy guaranteed to be there at 3.
I'm not even sure what that means. You don't trade up a month before the draft for "your guy." You trade up to three because you've identified three players you'd be very happy with, regardless of which one remains. Since we know it's a QB, it's fairly obvious two are Lawrence and Wilson. So the question is...who's the 3rd? Sure, it could be Lance. Could also be Fields. But it could also be Jones. If I were putting money on it, I'd bet on Jones.

Id be hard pressed to move up that high for Jones. I guess I wrote my post before the Jones steam started to pick up in SF. I think Lance is a better prospect.

Me too.  But one can't predict the trick that is the Rick!

Well, it would allow them to move on from KC after 2022. Essentially, you would get KC level play for a lot less hit on the cap.

That's not certain. You might get KC level play, you might also get Bortles-level play.

Similar to the 49ers who play the same offense, I think the Vikings would have him ranked higher than other teams and if he fell to 14 (he won't), Vikings might think about it.

But I think the Vikings disagree with most of their fan base on where they are right now. They realize they have the league's best back, the league's best young WR, a pretty damn good QB who can get them the ball, nearly rebuilt lines on both sides of the ball and they spent a lot of money bringing in free agents. P2, Woods and Mac on 1-year contracts. It's pretty clear the Vikings are going for it.

It's hard to see a time like that burning a 1st on a player that won't help them this year.

Momentum clearly is building toward the 49ers taking quarterback Mac Jones with the third overall pick in the draft. And the betting odds are reflecting it.
As of March 29, the day on which coach Kyle Shanahan and G.M. John Lynch addressed publicly the move from No. 12 to No. 3, Trey Lance was the PointsBet favorite at +130. Next came Justin Fields at +150 and Jones at +160.
Things have changed dramatically since then. Now, Jones is the -200 favorite, with Fields at +250 and Lance at +300.
In the immediate aftermath of the trade, not many pegged Jones as the likely pick. Chris Simms, who has no inside information (or so he says) but who knows Shanahan well, said that he believes it will be Jones. Others who initially thought it would be Lance or Fields listened. More importantly, wagers were made based in reliance on Simms’ assessment — and the odds changed accordingly.
Three weeks from tonight, we’ll find out pick No. 3 and the other 31 selections in round one, as the 2021 draft gets rolling.

4 FBS QBs since 2000 to have a 70+ comp % & a TD-INT ratio of at least 10:1 in a single season.

Mac Jones in 2020 (77.4%, 41 TD, 4 INT)
Joe Burrow in 2019 (76.3%, 60 TD, 6 INT)
Tua Tagovailoa in 2019 (71.4%, 33 TD, 3 INT)
Zach Wilson in 2020 (73.5%, 33 TD, 3 INT)
"Per ESPN stats and info, Jones registered a QBR of 78.3 when pressured and a 97.3 QBR when blitzed, which speaks to his ability to quickly process what's in front of him and get the ball out. Fields, who sometimes holds onto the ball too long and struggled against pressure last season, registered a QBR of 22.6 when pressured over his last 13 games and 81.1 when blitzed. For context, Zach Wilson ranked second in the class with a 44.0 QBR when pressured, which is quite good, which goes to show how impressive Jones' numbers are."

Mac Jones is a legit NFL QB prospect IMO.  He's good moving around in the pocket when he feels pressure and he does a good of finding the open guy and making plays.  Yes, he was surrounded by a ton of talent, but so was Trevor Lawrence and Joe Burrow and I don't see anyone holding that against them.

Really hoping the Lions fall on the Fields grenade. Maybe we'll get lucky and the Bears will trade up for him?

Definitely dont want the Bears to solve their QB problem...That's the 2009 Vikings team b4 Favre, just waiting for that last piece.
