No doubt he's on the back-side of the peak...

His PFF passer ratings the last two years were over 100 for this first time in his career.

That said, we got baby DB's, major questions on Hughes and a first year DB coach too. So his presence will be a welcome one.

I just wish he were younger and potentially had more in the tank. A Newman 2.0 would be just fine though.

But AZ attempted to play a very heavy man-to-man the last 2 years, foolish in today’s game...

Wow...Vikings exceeding expectations in free agency. So Peterson's only 30 years old. That surprised me. So is he a corner or our new free safety? Just read a blurb where he said he's willing to play safety to extend his career.

He will play opposite of Dantzler. He still shut down guys like Metcalf last year. He will have a chip on his shoulder for sure. Great guy for the young CBs to look up to and learn. Great signing.

In 2012, former pro bowler & first round pick Terence Newman was waived by the Cowboys after 2 down years. Newman was turning 34, coming off a year where he ranked 103/125 CBs by PFF grade.

Zimmer's Bengals signed him for cheap. Newman bounced back big time, ranking 32/118 CBs.

Peterson is in a great situation and believe he will make the most of it. Zimmer has a leader for the young guys and still a very good player.

Agreed. I'll bet he comes into Minnesota and has a better year because of having down years the last two. It'll also help to have a good defensive minded coach who will know how to best utilize his talents.

This seems to happen a lot. Newman, Rhodes, Sherman. Would not be too surprised to see Peterson return to a Pro Bowl level in a Zimmer defense...especially if this defense can find a pass rush and get its 3rd down mojo back.

So...guessing the well publicized "Vikings have an offer on the table for Mackenzie Alexander" was just a message to the Peterson camp?
