Sources: Danielle Hunter remains unhappy with his current situation with the Vikings and is exploring all options, including a trade request. https://theathletic.com/2451761/2021/0

On a sweetheart deal, very young, bring me a boatload of picks and I'll consider it. Other wise, you've got zero leverage Danielle.

if this has any legs at all as far as coming from Hunters camp,  that would be setting off huge red flags for me in terms of how healthy he is going to be coming back.  They have to know how stupid it sounds for a player who just missed a complete season due to injury who is also under contract for several more years to be making contract noise.

This one is annoying. He is coming back from an injury. I don't know how much leverage that gives him. I just want resolution one way or the other. Maybe the fatigue factor is what he or his agent is counting on. Who knows? We'll see what happens.

What tells me is if he is making some noise about his current contract, hopefully he feels he's ready to come back and play at that high level, deserving a new contract.

He is getting bad advice. Period

he was fucking paid to stay at home and now he wants more or out?  Play hardball with him, he can sit out another year if he wants.

I would agree, but Guru says there is more to the story, but he cant share it at this time,  that does paint Hunter in a  more sympathetic light in this matter.

Look, he suffered a potentially career ending injury, I sure all during the season as he sat out he had people in his ear about his contract.  Does not surprise me that he is looking for more financial security.  I am sure his agent is feeling the pressure also because of the under-market contract.  I am guessing some incentives will be built into his contract to make him happy -- such as contract escalation for # of sacks, pro bowl, all pro, etc.

I also don't doubt there was pressure for him to play last year and they have to remedy that through conversations.

Maybe Hunter felt a little...let's call it "uneasy" last year when the team apparently expected him to forego/delay surgery on his neck? At the time of the Ngakoue trade (8/30) they obviously still expected him to play in 2020. Instead he was incative to start the season, got his second opinion in early October and opted fur surgery at around October 22nd. I guess they had some not so pleasant conversations about his status in September...

I am no doctor and we all don't know about the exact nature of his injury, but if it was my neck I'd rather play it safe as well...which is not to say that he not could realistically have played without surgery.

Ahh, I love me some speculations  Wink

Was that Sullivan that they wanted to play through a back injury?  He would have, but wanted some guarantee on the contract and they wouldn't.  So he went on IR.

Goodness, stop that talk...you almost make me remember how some people thought Bridgewater hurt his knee in the last preseason game but the team doctors didn't catch it and let him keep practicing...
