Jaelen Phillips: DE1?
#1
Love Paye's freaky athleticism. Love Rousseau's production, albeit limited. But I don't think either one of them move as well and as instinctively as Jaelen Phillips. He has a basketball player's instinct for footwork and knowing when and where to burst.

That said, how can you possibly ignore 3 concussions, the last of which forced him to retire from football temporarily. Seriously, ONE more concussion and this could be a wasted pick. I'm confused why more people aren't talking about that. Anyway, good breakdown below...

Agreed. I like him as a prospect, maybe more than the others...but there's no way that you can ignore those concussions. Dude literally retired from playing at one point.

Just too risky. He's definitely going to get another concussion. 100%. Hell, it could happen at practice or in a preseason game.

To me, he's undraftable. I wouldn't be shocked if he's off a lot of boards.

He's the best pure DE prospect in the draft. The concussion issue is unfortunate and makes drafting him very risky. The definition of boom or bust...none of which though is related to if he can play football at a very high level.

If we deal down from 14 to 27, giving up a 3rd to get Brown, then you take this kid if he is there at 27#.

You already got a first round talent in Brown in the trade, you can take the risk here.

If we walked away from the draft day one with Brown and Phillips , added Geno Atkins and Lane Taylor via incentive laden deals, I am thinking this team is a SB contender

They shouldn't use their highest 1st round pick since 2015 on a player w/ a history of concussions. No way.

Yeah, I just can't get passed that. Even if he was Lawrence Taylor. Retired once already. Its enough of a crap shoot without the HUGE RED FLAG staring you in the face.
