Clemson and Texas Pro Days Today
#1
Tigers, ‘Horns headline big pro day … The pre-draft pro day schedule continues on Thursday with major workouts at Clemson and Texas. Of course, Clemson QB Trevor Lawrence, the presumptive #1 pick at this year’s draft, won’t be participating in the Tigers’ pro day as he is rehabbing from shoulder surgery. However, Clemson still has a number of top prospects including RB Travis Etienne, WR Amari Rodgers, and OT Jackson Carman.

Meanwhile, the Longhorns also feature several top 100 type prospects including OT Sam Cosmi, ER Joseph Ossai and SS Caden Stearns. For the record, the NFL Network has announced that they will be providing coverage of key pro days starting with the Clemson and Texas workouts tomorrow at 6 PM ET. The NFL Network will also be providing live coverage of the North Dakota State and Oklahoma workouts on Friday starting at noon ET. As noted earlier, though star ND State QB Trey Lance, a top ten candidate for next month’s draft, has announced that he will not be participating in the physical testing aspect of the workout, which would include the 40, and will only be throwing.

When Carman runs sub 5.0, I will officially surrender.

Etienne just ran a 4.40 so he ran a 4.50. Pretty good time for him

Etienne impresses at Clemson pro day … Updating those reports from Jim Nagy of the Senior Bowl, at today’s pro day at Clemson. Tigers’ star RB Travis Etienne has had a very good day to date. He measured in at a solid 5-10, 215 and then ran a couple of 40s which were both timed in the 4.45 range. Etienne also had a good-enough vertical of 33″ and a better long jump of 10-8″.

As noted earlier, OT Jackson Carman will not be working out today, presumably because of some kind of injury, an instead will do so at a private on-campus workout on April 15th. Carman, a second-day candidate, measured in at 6-4.5 and 317 pounds, but with only 32.5″ arms, which is less than ideal and could have some teams looking at him more as an OG prospect. At the same time, numbers are still incomplete but WR Cornell Powell has reportedly also had a really good day.

Way light for Carman. I thought he'd be at least 330.

The wingspan is crazy — but the arms are short

That means Carman's chest is ~the size of Rhode Island

  • Clemson WR Amari Rodgers took reps at running back during the program's pro day on Wednesday.Rogers (5'10/210) looking to show NFL teams his versatility on Thursday. He also ran a very respectable 40-yard dash of 4.45 seconds. Representatives from 31 pro squads were reportedly on hand to watch Rodgers and other Clemson draft hopefuls go through testing and drills. With clean medical checks -- Rodgers tore his ACL in spring of 2019 -- a later Day 2 selection would probably be the ceiling for Rogers' draft range. Otherwise, look for him to fly off the board at some point on the final day of the draft.

Wisconsin DB Rachad Wildgoose ran a 4.41 40-yard dash at his pro-day workout. His impressive 40-yard dash time would have ranked in the top-10 of the of the 2020 combine. Wildgoose (5'11/197) also posted a 10-yard split of 1.49 seconds, which is just a tick behind Jeff Okudah's cornerback combine leading time of 1.47 seconds last season. The Wisconsin defensive back rounded out his testing numbers with a 120-inch broad jump, seven-second three-cone drill, 36-vertical and benched 225 pounds 11 times. His excellent testing numbers could vault the Badgers' DB into Day 2 consideration
