If This Moved Lance To #14
#1
TREY LANCEQB, COLLEGE PLAYER[Image: Trey_Lance.jpg]
NBC Sports' Peter King said he wouldn't be surprised if Alabama's Mac Jones was drafted before North Dakota State's Trey Lance. King cited a source from a QB-needy NFL team who said Lance's lack of recent play -- he's played one game in the past 414 days -- makes him an iffy selection as a top-10 pick. North Dakota State canceled its 2020 season amid the COVID-19 pandemic. “He’s a guy we all needed to see more of, for a lot of reasons,” the source told King. Lance in 2019 rushed for 1,100 yards and 14 touchdowns while completing 66.9 percent of his passes for 2,786 yards and 28 touchdowns. His dual-threat potential would seem to fit perfectly for NFL teams looking to emulate the success of teams quarterbacked by hyper-athletic passers, but Lance's dearth of experience could scare off a number of teams in this spring's draft.

I still wouldn't scream bloody murder if we took him.

I saw this. My first thought is that it's smoke. I think it was Daniel Jeremiah who said that NFL teams are still very high on Lance. Higher than most people think. My TV and my cat would both survive a Lance pick at 14.

King is a noted dumbass when it comes to the Draft. Seriously, look at his history over the years with 'inside information' about the NFL Draft. Its hilariously bad. I think he makes shit up.

Yeah, I take whatever King says with a grain of salt. I know DJ is extremely high on Lance. If the Vikings took him I wouldn't be upset.

No way Rick picks a first round QB. His focus will be adding a player that can contribute immediately. Then, he'll state as he always does, that they stayed true to their board & selected their highest ranked player.

with the combine being cancelled and the draft months away I wonder if it wasnt a mistake for Lance to declare so early.  his Bison just started a spring season this past weekend which would have allowed him to put some fresh tape together prior to the draft.

If he's going go go in the top half of the first round he's probably just fine.  It seems the QBs who have the most success go to teams who already have a team around them and getting picked in the middle to bottom of the 1st is probably a blessing in disguise.

Do I think the Vikings would consider a QB at #14? Yes. But that is kind of like asking if they would take Sharrif Floyd if he dropped into the early 20's. At some point you pivot.

Personal opinion is that if the Vikings take a QB in round 1 it'll be Fields and they'd pass on Lance and or Mac Jones. People are too harshly criticizing Fields ability to read progressions when the OSU offense doesn't expect him to. He needs at least a year to sit but if he ends up in the right spot he should still end up being the 2nd best QB in the draft class.

Wha is it about Fields that made you form that opinion? Does he have a lot of fans inside the building?

Fields scares the crap out of me. If the dogs were sound asleep before that pick, they wouldn't be afterwards.
