Oh? Do tell.
I don't know what they've offered or if they've formally made an offer. But lets say the Vikings could offer #14 and send the Ravens back their 3rd #91 for #27 and Brown. That is a late 1st/early 2nd valuation and I think it honestly makes sense from the MN side.

You trade back in the 1st which puts you in a better position to target a DT or DE. You add a premiere LT that is about to turn 25. It allows you to move on from Reiff now and save a net $8.5M or so once you add in Browns cap hit to the 2021 cap.

Sure, you'll need to extend Brown on a long-term deal but that won't really impact the cap in 2021 and you can keep the 2022 number lower than a Reiff restructure as well. Then in 2023 you'd see the brunt of the extension.

Not saying it'll happen but I can see why they'd be exploring it (as are many teams) I just know the Vikings are more serious than some. Brown/O'Neill would be a great OT combo for the next decade or so.

Only issue that I see with this is having to extend both O'Neill & Brown in consecutive years. That's a lot of cap dedicated to your OT's.
Yes and with both O'Neill and Cleveland being possible LTs, I don't know that adding a highly paid possible diva at LT is what this team needs.
I share your concerns about the diva aspect (I think "possible" is too kind), but I don't think the Vikings really consider Ezra Cleveland a good prospect for LT. He was practicing at OG even when they thought Elflein and Samia were solid players. Short arms. O'Neill, yes.

make it happen... and then... show Reiff the pictures of him in a compromising situation that we have so that he signs an extension for moderate money and agrees to kick inside to LG.... lets go!  Can anybody say contender?

Brown-Reiff-Bradburry-Cleveland-ONeil

Draft DT in the back end of the 1st, add a vet DT in FA (Short, Atkins, Suh), a DE in the 3rd

Rebuild the trenches, the young DBs evolve, the offense becomes more productive

Contender once again

Kidding.  I like Reiff actually.  I think we keep him for another year, develop Cleveland for another year.

I don't know if O'Neill was hurt last year or what was going on, but he certainly took a step back and was getting beat. I don't know that I'd feel comfortable having him switch sides

I get that as being a concern but the running argument is to keep Reiff at LT on a restructured deal and O'Neill at RT on an extension. So you're basically swapping out giving Reiff more money and giving it to Brown Jr. instead. Since he still has a year left on his rookie deal you can also spread the money out a little more easily that a restructure with Reiff. So although in the end Brown Jr. may cost more the cap impact may very well be the same if not better.

I would jump on that deal so fast that fans would think this late 50s guy could still play the game; even when my play was marginal in my prime.
