Funny, no mention of games he brought the team back in the fourth quarter, only to have the D blow the lead handed to them. I guess those don't count.

Not sure why I'm going to also mention that Cousins also has one of the best QBRs in the 4th quarter with the game within 7 points as that will probably fall on fact resistant ears.
Which games?  Dallas?  Tennessee?  Chicago?

Each one of those games we had 2 possessions with less than 3 minutes to go and got nothing from our QB, nothing.  2 out of 3 we had the lead with around 2 minutes left and just needed to convert first downs to win.  When you are the QB, you live and die by those moments.  This guy has died more times than won when we needed him to.

Do you think Kirk Cousins is going to somehow become everything he has not been in big moments and take this team to a championship?  I'll be glad to take anyone in that bet, he never will.  He doesn't have IT.

In a league where some guys do, if your team doesn't you are always playing for second place.  For most Viking fans that must be good enough

The last drive of the Dallas game Kirk couldnt even perform a 3 step drop without a guy already being in his face, guess he needs to learn to block better. Tennessee, sure, he could have done more, but his offense put up 30 points that game. Chicago game, we let Mitchell freaking Trubisky torch us...he marched us down there but ran out of time as they needed a TD. Kirk isn't an elite QB (Top 5) but the narrative that he doesnt have IT is pretty ridiculous right now...especially when guys on this board want to give away the farm for a QB who won 4 freaking games last year.

Idk, I guess maybe we start bitching and moaning about how bad Harrison Smith is because he couldnt stop offenses. Maybe Kendricks is the most overrated LB in football because the defense couldnt stop any decent rushing attack.

My point is it's a team game so when you have almost the worst OL in football, it will make things difficult for any QB, good or bad. Kirk supporters aren't asking for the best OL in the business, but it sure would be nice to not have him panicking within 1.5 seconds.

So he's had nothing but the worst line in football since 2018?  What about in Washington, also the worst OL's?  How bad was the drop off from the 2017 to 2018 line that went from 13-3 to 8-8?  Kirk has no culpability in regards to the amount of sacks taken?

Listen I wanted Kirk to be the guy too.  But he's had weapons, a strong defense, and an OC's catering to his strengths.  How many other QB's could be .500 over the last 3 years with these assets surrounding them?  PLENTY OF THEM.

When he gets in tough games against top level competition, he doesn't show much.  He looks scared, acts scared.

This season was lost before it even started because of his piss poor performance the first quarter of the season.  2019 could have been a divisional winning year if he didn't have a terrible performance against our rivals, TWICE.  2018 he could have taken this team to the playoffs but threw for 130 yards in a win and get in game vs a team who had no stake in the game.

What championship caliber QB do you know not only has a key poor performance like that, let alone more of them than impressive ones?

I don't know how you an objectively look at his record and performance and be for it.  What in the world makes you think he will have the ability to go on the road for 1, potentially 2 games and beat very good teams?

Plus if you are honestly questioning why people here want Watson, then you don't know football.  That kid is most likely the second most dangerous QB in the league behind Mahomes and would turn this team into a SB contender day one he steps in here.

Again, if Kirk doesn't have it, then at this point we are waisting our time.  But sure, let's have the SAME SONG and DANCE this time next year, saying well if Kirk HAD X, or gave Kirk Y, we would be in the playoffs.  The guy is too nice, too analytical to have that extra level of greatness that is needed to be a champion.

Would anyone here actually be willing to put money down that Cousins is going to lead this team to the promise land?  IF no, then what the hell are we doing here

He's had weapons, he's also had three different OC's and that makes a difference He took Washington to the playoffs...they have been dogshit since he left (not to mention he threw for almost 5,000 yards with god awful receivers).

He does get scared and looks scared in some games, yes, because his OL allows him to get sacked 6 times like he did vs the 49ers in the playoffs. Looked alright IN New Orleans throwing that dime to Thielen in the playoff game though huh?

You have a strong hatred for the guy, but we got our asses kicked vs the Eagles because we had a QB who couldn't do anything on offense. Now we have a QB who can keep us competitive in every game and basically did last year once we started Jefferson.

With Deshaun, he's young, talented, and has a bright future, but he also boasts a .500 record and 1-2 in the playoffs. Just going off your logic, if he is so damn good then why did his team only win 4 games?

Let's keep the QB who keeps us in every game because he's damn good instead of going with a rookie or all in on a guy we have to give away the farm for. We will bounce back next year

Bounce back to what?  To a Wild Card win?  2nd place in the division?  Have Minnesota fans been so conditioned to accepting nice that they forgot what a championship looks like?

Yes, that one pass to Adam was a great pass.  But that's what we are hanging our hat on, one pass in a wild card game.  3 years, the Super Bowl window closing, but hey, that was a great pass.

Back to the playoffs to give ourselves a chance, yes. I think we draft a starter in round 1 and the injuries we had last year we dont have this year.

We lost a lot of guys and coaches after the NFC Championship year. They were more impactful than any of us thought.

Kirk has played in two playoff games for us. One of them he won the game for us. The other, he, like literally everyone else on the team, sucked.

I have faith in him because the advanced stats all back it up. If they didnt then I would probably be in the same boat as you. From where I stand, not a single QB takes this years’ team to the NFC Championship game. Not even Mahomes, thats how bad our defense and OL were

I don't actually think Cousins is our biggest problem, but you're showing a lot of faith - not just in Cousins, but that "next year none of the problems will happen". Maybe, but we will have different ones. Many people are saying, "You can't judge this team based on 2020 because they had Covid, no minicamps, no preseason, Hunter and Barr got hurt, 3 cornerbacks left, Stefanski left..."

I think this time next year, the same folks will all be saying, "Come on, give Zimmer a break for this year, Cook got hurt, we couldn't afford to sign any offensive linemen because of the cap, there was no draft combine, the preseason was cut to 2 games, Kubiak retired and Zimmer had to fire his new OC after 7 games, Ant Harris and Eric Wilson left, the rookie CBs had sophomore slumps, Michael Pierce was out of shape...."

There are always excuses and every year we are asked to give this team a mulligan.

Excuse or not, what if it's the truth?  Why does the truth never matter?

Like every team, I suspect we'll have our share of injuries next year. But that evens out over the course of the year. Guy gets hurt, next man up goes in and you can mitigate that downgrade with scheme. But even if you don't, a downgrade at one position, or even two, is manageable. It's not necessarily going to spell the difference between a win and a loss.

Problem with the Vikings defense last year was that we had an extraordinary amount of injuries, and those happened to 4 of the best 5 players on defense. Three of our front seven were out all year. A fourth missed 5 games. And then the backups started getting hurt.

I don't care how good your depth is, when half of your defense is a 2nd or 3rd string player, you're not going to fare well.

1 playoff win.
26th rated o-line, 29th rated defense.
and in 2018?  Defense was 4th. OL was shit but it featured Kirks boy Tom Compton.

He’s a .500 QB who plays bad in big games.  But sure, lets keep up the mediocrity in Minnesota because stats are nice.

Better yet, he only needs top 5 OL to go with the premier WR duo in the league, a top 3 RB, and damn good pair of TEs to get us past round 2 of the playoffs.

there are guys who have IT and those who dont, he doesnt
Yet, people are insisting that a kid who just went 4-12 has "it", but I blame that on hallucinogens in COVID vaccines.

I guess you missed his two seasons where he was 21-10 or his National championship game vs Alabama.  yeah, I guess he didn't have "IT" there either.  If Cousins played on that Houston team completely devoid of leadership, shipping out their best talent for a broken RB, 4-12 would have been a good season.

You are clown if you think that any GM would pick Cousins over Watson to start a team today, yesterday or two years ago
