Its the niners on line one with the same offer for Cousins ( except replacing goff with garapolol)   any takers ....besides me?
I doubt any team would give up one 1st round pick for Cousins.

I didn't expect anybody to come close to the haul the Rams gave up for Stafford.  I think Stafford is a top 15 QB in the league, but he's going to be 33 years old next month. I was figuring maybe a second or third round pick would be the market for him.  This is the start of a very crazy QB offseason so I hope the Vikings are at least open to entertaining offers.  Cousins has had as much or more success in the league then Stafford has with a couple years less starting experience.
But it is NOT a "haul". Read my earlier post - these are future 1st-rounders from a team expected to be picking 25 or later. It's the equivalent of a couple 2nd-rounders this year.

And the Lions got Goff...is he the Lions' winning QB for the next decade - or a contract dump a al Brock Osweiler? THAT is going to determine whether the Lions did well in this trade.

It's a haul in contrast to what I figured the market value would be for him. In most cases its a win any time you can get a 1st round pick in any kind of trade, but the Lions sponged two of them from the Rams along with the former number one overall pick in the draft (Goff) who has shown flashes...all for a 33 year old QB. On face value the Lions won this deal IMO

The Lions defense was ranked last in 2020 and gave up the most points (519). The team finished 5-11.
They were ranked 26th in 2019 and gave up the 6th highest points (423). The team finished 3-12-1.
They were ranked 16th in 2018 and gave up the 16th highest points (360). The team finished 6-10.
They were ranked 21st in 2017 and gave up the 12th highest points (376). The team finished 9-7 and made the playoffs.
They were ranked 13th in 2016 and gave up the 20th highest points (358). The team finished 9-7.
They were ranked 23rd in 2015 and gave up the 10th highest points (400). The team finished 7-8.
They were ranked 3rd in 2014 and gave up the 29th highest points (282). The team finished 10-6 and made the playoffs.

His lead backs in those years were Joique Bell, Ameer Abdullah, Theo Riddick, Kerryon Johnson, and Adrian Peterson.

The Vikings defense since 2014 was ranked 11th, 5th, 6th, 1st, 9th, 5th, and 29th.
The Vikings lead backs in those years were Matt Asiata, Adrian Peterson, Jerrick McKinnon, Latavius Murray, and Dalvin Cook.

The comparison of Cousins and Stafford without mentioning the putrid defenses in Detroit is not fair or even reasonable.

If you are trailing most of the time, then you have to try and make things happen almost always.  Sometimes you force things.

Whether it works or not, the Rams took their shot. They have most of the pieces in place and are shooting for a win now philosophy. The Lions are rebuilding and need change, time will tell whether or not it is the right option.

I like this quote:

Goff, meanwhile, is heading to Detroit to play for first-year head coach Dan Campbell. FOX Sports 1 personality Colin Cowherd doesn’t appear to be very excited about that.
“If you’re looking for winners and losers in tonight’s trade. Consider this —Jared Goff goes from Sean McVay to Fred Flinstone. Won’t end well,” the longtime sports radio host tweeted.
Going from Los Angeles to Detroit is certainly a downgrade when we’re talking about the weather. And McVay is obviously a more proven head coach than Campbell.

I think Stafford is an enormous winner in this deal. Not only is he going to a far better team, he could be a star in a huge media market. Nice reward after more than a decade in Detroit.

Chris Spielman is starting off strong as GM for the Lions. If they roll with Goff at QB and trade back from pick 7... they could have a boat load of future high round draft picks.
Brad Holmes, who came over from the Rams, is the Lions GM. Which kind of begs the question, now that Paton is in Denver, and they were in on the Stafford sweepstakes...do they make a move for Cousins?

If they do, what would be considered an acceptable deal?

Well, Denver was unwilling to give up any young core players. So, Drew Lock is off the table (not that I'd bang the table for him but we'd need at least a nominal starter) Other than picks, I'm not sure what would be worthwhile.I think Denver's first and second this year, and a second the following year that becomes a first depending on performance,  for Cousins and the fourteen would be a good start. They'd also have to throw in Lock or some other piece or player that can hold the fort at QB.
