Yeah, the Viking D is just so bad it's hard to imagine.  The Bears offense barely looks like a NFL team, but completely shredded our D a few weeks ago.

I don't think they're going to fix it in one off season.  Serious upgrades are needed on the DL, LB and DBs.
We need a 3T and a safety. We're set at LB if we're able to restructure Barr.
Yep, agreed. The defense next year will be obviously way better than this year, but there are some needs. It just blows my mind that the "Offensive Genius" that is Matt Nagy has this bad of an offense when they have that defense. Hell, Anthony Miller was supposed to be the steal of the draft and he had a very lackluster year.

I actually have a lot of hope for the D, hell it cant get worse?

You get a HEALTHY Kendricks, Barr, Pierce and Hunter back? That's an awful lot of talent returning. Years of draft talent back in the fold.

Pick-up a decent 3t in draft or FA??? Baby DB's will get a full TC, OTA and a year under the belt.

Expecting significant improvement on that side of the ball isnt going out on a limb imo.

We'll see, Hunter and Pierce are still unknowns. Not sure if Barr is going to stay. If he is going to stay, he needs to restructure his contract. I am confident in Kendricks. The rookies have experience now though.

My thoughts exactly.  Even with
Hunter and Pierce, we don't have any depth along the DL.  Sounds like Barr
might not be on the team, and same with Wilson; that leaves Kendricks.
I'm still not sure how good the DBs are other than Harry.  Getting a respected pass rush will help them, but it sounds like Hunter is our
lone known savior for pressuring the QB, and he's coming off a serious injury.

Maybe we can be a middle of the pack
D instead of a cellar dweller.  I just think it's pretty unrealistic we'll see a
top 10 Viking defense next season; way too many holes and roster question marks.

I think Harris will be gone too. His play really fell off. Not sure if Hughes comes back from his neck injury. We'll see how the corners do. There is no pass rush. If COVID continues, does Pierce opt out again if that is a possibility due to his asthma? There are still so many questions.

Holy cow, I forgot Mike Hughes existed. I think Pierce will play as there is a much better grasp on the situation now than there was back in August. Hunter is an athletic freak and I would be surprised if there was any set back with him

Eh, how much bargaining power does he have in that right now? He sat all season long with a neck injury collecting a check. I would like to think that discussion starts after this next season but who knows

Barr is no where the player that Hunter is,  nor is Pierce or many of the others.  About the only other defensive player we have that could balk for more money IMO would be Kendricks,  and on O it has to be ONeil,  other than those two who is really in a position to claim they are under paid and would see it bare out if they were cut or traded?

My fear is that Zimmer sees his CBs aren't rookies and he throws away the simpler coverage schemes he used in 2020 and the CBs will be overthinking every move in his complex scheme, and Gladney and Dantzler will look tentative.

Oh, and when have the Vikings been able to simply "pick up a decent 3t"?? Good luck there. That sounds like the old Steve Martin routine called, "How to be a Millionaire"...Step 1: Get a million dollars.
