It will be interesting to see how the NFL protocols play out with tonight's practice.

What does it mean by Cousins is a 'high-risk' close contact?

It means he and Stanley both are NOT vaccinated.  Browning is, so he does not need to be quarantined.  Stanley has f'd himself trying to make the team.  He would have played half the game if vaccinated.  Maybe this will convince other Vikings to get vaccinated.

I wondered that too. The only conclusion I could come to was vaccine status.

Jake Browning is expected to get all the reps at today’s practice. Browning is vaccinated, Andrew Krammer of the Star Tribune reports, and no quarantine is required for vaccinated players who are close contacts.
The Vikings are going through contact tracing to determine who else is a high-risk contact.

Report: Kellen Mond tests positive for COVID-19, Kirk Cousins a high-risk contact (msn.com)

The simple truth is that with the delta variant, if you are not vaccinated, you are going to miss games.  It is much more contagious and there are going to be outbreaks even among vaccinated players.   I imagine it will affect the composition of the roster -- not just the cutting of players at the backend of the roster but how many players you keep at any position.  For instance, if Harrison Smith is not vaccinated (as rumor has it), no way do the Vikes go with only 2 safeties like last year -- probably 4 safeties just because Smith is not vaccinated.  It will definitely be another factor in the composition of the roster.

I was hoping he had asthma or something. He's not VACCINATED?? STILL? Our starting QB??? I don't know whether to laugh, cry or shatter something against the wall.

The good thing, i suppose, is that there is plenty of time to sort this out. But it would be just like the Vikings to have their promising season derailed by the stupidest thing in the history of stupid things.

Cousins, Thielen and Smith are supposedly not vaccinated. I will remain guarded about the season.
