....and so ends another exciting season of Vikings football..............
#1
I knew the season was in trouble on day one in Green Bay. Meh?  No Passion. No Firepower.  No sense of Urgency. What went wrong? Everything. What went well? Not much.

Now you know why you NEVER extend a contract. Let the contract play out and then resign. I don't care what OTHER teams do.I only worry about the Vikings.

Fire Zimmer and they fire everyone else. The Vikings under Zimmer are in a no win mindset. The Vikings under Zimmer have gone as far as they will go and what did not work this year will be brought back under Zimmer next year. You have just witnessed the 2021 season in 2020.

Trade everyone. Start over. I don't care how good a Vikings player is, See Alan Page, See Fran Tarkington, See John Randle, See Randy Moss, the Vikings will not win with the current roster. Trade Dalvin for two no. 1'S. Trade Jefferson for two no 1'S. Trade everyone else for 2's and 3'S and start over with a new staff. Trade evryone. The Zimmer mindset is entrenched into these players.

Zimmer's  blind, stubbornness,  will to run the ball at all costs, even if it means losing the game, is a BIG problem. The running game starts AFTER you CATCH the ball. Push the ball down the field. With only a one back system, EVERYONE KNOWS who is getting the ball. Dalvin is good, but he is not that good. Neither is anyone else when EVERYONE else knows who is getting the ball.

The OL? I open to suggestion.

Defense ?????????  Try attacking the offense instead of straight BACK PEDDLING.  Try bring the wood instead of waiting to have the ball put up your ass, sideways.

How good is Christmas going to be this Friday with a Viking Loss? Hopefully I am wrong and that is my Christmas present to you all.

6-10? Why not. At least we can get a better Cornerback pick in the draft.

I'm ready to move on from Zimmer era too, but you gotta be careful not to:

There are some very good pieces on this team to build off of in 21.

One thing is for sure, we have zero depth on either line. Dozier is a total sieve and is not an NFL starter. If you are going to have a lighter center like Bradford, you need a beast at left guard to keep the middle of the line in tact. I have been very surprised by Cleveland at RG this year and think Reiff was solid and worth keeping. However, when one of those guys goes down, we have nobody that can step in and fill their shoes. The Defensive line is even in bigger trouble. Yes we need a starting 3T, but the rest of our young lineman outside of Wanum seemed to regress this year. JJ, Holmes, Stephen, Odenigbo, Watts, Lynch, etc. generate zero pass rush when they are in the game. Again, that is the current state of our DL depth which is really scary to think about going into next year. Hunter's impact, Kendricks' impact, and I hate to admit it, Barr's impact was sorely missed this year(I've always felt that Kendricks is more important to this defense than Barr, but together they make a solid LB Tandem). The rest of the LB depth is pretty shaky and Wilson is too streaky and limited for my liking to be an every down starter. We can assume Pierce would shore up the middle of the D, but we have not seen him play in a Vikings uniform so who really knows. Is he a product of the Baltimore D which is always good or is he really a difference maker?

Bottom line, we won't win anything with the current OLines and DLines the way they are constructed. Some major upgrades need to happen.

I will also say that if the Defense is going to be this bad under Zimmer, then what's the point in keeping him as a Head Coach? He is a liability with his offensive philosophy, and we have always struggled with Special Teams under his leadership. I get the defense is young and inexperienced, but this is one of the worst tackling units I have ever seen, not to mention the lack of discipline to maintain simple gap responsibility reflects poorly on Zimmer and the defensive coaching staff. Offensively, that side of the ball appears to be better prepared and better coached than the defense this year.

We will get Hunter and Pierce back next season but it's a big question how they will be after a season off.  Zimmer isn't going to fire his son as co-defensive coordinator so coaching pretty much will stay the same on that side of the ball.  We can only hope help comes through the draft.  They sure do need an upgrade in talent on the line (both lines).

Kirk, Zim, RS, the whole kit and caboodle... the fact is the Vikings kind of stink.
So do people get held accountable, or do we smile and make excuses? I don't know what the answer is.

I think there will be a scapegoat somewhere, probably Capers and then same old same old.

Look...this season is a wash, mulligan, or whatever you want to call it. Zim is a proven coach who has had this team in playoff contention almost every year. Covid, no preseason, injuries, and trying to implement a ton of young players into key roles and get them up to speed has been a no win situation for the team. The best thing that could come out of it considering everything is playing time for the young guys and us getting a decent draft pick in a draft with some pretty impressive talent.  Let's get everybody back, load up in the draft and free agency, and run this back next season. I can guarantee a much better result

Fixed it for you.

He's a few games over .500 when his schedule is easier, a few games under after a season when he gets 10 wins and the schedule is harder. There is no steady progress. There won't be. But as for "much better result" next year - well, sure, they are going to play the softer schedule given to teams that finish 6-10 or 7-9. "Better result" than this season? How hard will that be??

Covid, no preseason - so why isn't every team in the league lousy this year? They all dealt with it - many did so better. Injuries? Wait for the injury-free season and you are guaranteed to never contend. We needed a bunch of young players because Zimmer let all the draft capital invested in his defense dissipate. For years we heard the offense couldn't provide what his defense needed. Well, what does he need now?

Excuses every year here, enabled by fans who are so afraid of the ghost of Les Frazier. Be brave, go for excellence.

This is on the Wilf's as far as I can see. They extended the contract on the architects of this shit show.
Want more? Stick around. You are likely to get it.
I have been with the team since day one. I no longer look forward to watching their games.

Because every other team in the league didn't have a roster purge this offseason due to cap constraints.  It happens to every team, it was just the Vikings year to pay the piper. Because of the cap purge the Vikings have had more rookies playing snaps then every team in the league outside of Carolina and Jacksonville, who are both awful. There is a direct correlation.  Those aren't excuses....those are facts
