Some Insight into the UDFAs
#1
I doubt any of us sees enough of the UDFAs to warrant an opinion, so I always find it interesting when we find out how much money they were offered. Pretty good indicator of how the Vikings prioritized them, and how much of a shot they have making the team.

Blake Proehl, WR, East Carolina: $115,000 ($15,000 signing bonus, $100,000 base salary guaranteed)
Christian Elliss, LB, Idaho: $110,000 ($35,000 signing bonus, $75,000 base salary guaranteed)
Whop Philyor, WR, Indiana: $40,000 ($10,000 signing bonus, $30,000 base salary guaranteed)
A.J. Rose, RB, Kentucky: $35,000 ($15,000 signing bonus, $20,000 base salary guaranteed)
Zeandae Johnson, DT, California: $20,000 ($10,000 signing bonus, $10,000 base salary guaranteed)
Riley Patterson, K, Memphis: $20,000 ($5,000 signing bonus, $15,000 base salary guaranteed)
Turner Bernard, LS, San Diego State: $0 guaranteed
Tuf Borland, LB, Ohio State: $0 guaranteed
Jordon Scott, DT, Oregon: $0 guaranteed
Zach Von Rosenberg, P, LSU: $0 guaranteed

Wondered at Proehl, saw the high salary and wondered if he actually has a shot.  Has the NFL pedigree that probably afforded him the best training.  But his dad wasn't exactly an elite pro, lasted 16 years but I remember him as a slow possession WR.  Not sure make the NFL in today's rules.

Wasn't it proehl that made the catch for the cardinals to knock the vikes out of the playoffs a while back?

I believe that was Nathan Poole.
I think GB gave him a key to the city. Barf.

Yeah, Poole was a one hit wonder.  Proehl played for the Cardinals, Seahawks and Panthers, played a long time but only had about 3 productive seasons.

Well, he's got 2 rings with the Rams and Colts, too...

If Proehl can make the PS, that would be great for him. He just doesn't have any suddenness to him, but we are talking an UDFA so they have extremely long odds.

A.J. Rose is an intriguing guy, didn't catch many passes in college but showed good hands when he was targeted.  He's got some juice and tackle breaking ability.  I watched a little bit of him after he was brought in as an UDFA and you can tell why the Vikings were interested.  Probably a PS candidate since we're stacked at RB but he could go the Mike Boone route and eventually make the roster in 2022.
