I really, really like that kid. I think he's going to be a GREAT NFL WR. Its not the greatest team need but man what a BPA he'd be. When I watched LSU highlights, that's the guy that was the most impressive to me on their roster even more than Jefferson.

The only thing that would make me puke with our #1 pick would be a DB or a LB.
He is (on paper) the best of those great WR's coming out of LSU. NFL All Pro potential.

Jamaar and JJ would be amazing.

I agree with MB, it's going to be QB, 3t or OL Rd 1. I'd love to see em move up for one of the QB's if they had a good bead on one of em.

I think if we end up with a pick in the top half, we'll do everything we can to move up for a QB with our extra picks. If we don't, I think there's a real chance we'll trade Hunter for a high 1st.

I think the team we'll target is the Bengals, a team who just drafted a QB #1 last year. So if the Vikings fall apart the rest of the season, root hard for the Bengals to lose. Shouldn't be hard with Burrow down. It's also somewhat possible that Lawrence pulls an Elway (or an Eli Manning) and refuses to go to the football hell that is the Jets, and we can pull off a trade with them. Dealin' Rick will have to figure something out.

That doesn't make any sense? Why take another receiver if he wouldn't be utilized?
unless they are preparing for life after Theilen,  but if that is the case they should be more concerned with who will be throwing the ball,  but primary concern should be who will be blocking for Dalvin and that new QB.
Maybe but they also need to look at life after Cousins. If they are going with the run heavy philosophy, why another receiver? Jefferson is valuable but not used enough. Definitely would be helpful to beef up the OL.

Please do everything possible to draft a QB in the first round no matter where we finish in the draft.  This year looks to be an excellent QB crop again.
Did you guys watch what Penix from Indiana did vs Ohio State?  His arm and athleticism is Mahomes-esque.  Not saying he is but watch their highlights one after another.
Thing is Penix is only a Sophomore so probably not coming out.  He will probably be Top 1-3 the following year so maybe we should tank next year Smile

The draft above has 3 QB's in top 5 and 4 in top 10.  I think we will probably be in the mid teens.  Will we have ammo too move into the Top 8-10?

I am starting to look at QB's for next years Draft.  What are others thoughts on Zack Wilson (BYU)?

hence my comment on more concern with who would be throwing the ball,  its looking more like the Vikings will be drafting outside the range of the top tier QBs,  so IMO they need to be looking at DTs and OL for this years first round.  then be looking to double down on those guys again with their thirds,  we need to add a ton of talent to both lines and then we can look to add that QB next year.  I would like to see Rick turn at least 2 of this years day 2 picks into higher round picks next year to give us more ammo for a trade up to grab a QB of the future if we dont have one of the top 4 fall to us this year.

As much as I would love to get a QB, I'm not sure they pull the trigger. I don't think we'll have any shot at guys like Lawrence, Fields, or even Wilson...but maybe a guy like Lance or Trask. I believe they'll be stubborn and stick with Cousins for better or worse (which would be a big mistake).

If they do stick with Cousins, I'd go with either bolstering the O-Line even more, or a 3T and CB (insert laugh). Regardless, everything is premature until we see what happens in FA and the such, but fun to speculate nonetheless.

Curious who your Top 4 are? Obviously Lawrence/Fields but who after?

Darrisaw or Davis are currently the only acceptable answers at this point.

I have spoken.

the little I have seen would then include Wilson and Lance.   I have seen a few others that I would look at but I will need to see more tape on them after the season is over.  I havent been watching as much CFB this year as I would have liked so it will be a youtube fest once the season is over.

QB please.

Cut Kirk and get out of that contract. Play the rookie QB or get Fitzpatrick, Newton, whoever to hold down the fort for a bit until the rookie is ready. If we “reach” for a QB and he doesn’t work out, then try again the following year. Arizona got Kyler this way, and that’s working out just fine for them.

EDIT- is this a great plan? No. But paying Kirk another $70 mil isn’t a great plan either. At least with Option A we definitey get younger and cheaper, and just maybe we strike gold.

I feel fairly confident that our pick will either be a QB, a 3T or an OL.
I'm not sure there is a 3T worthy of a first. My early favorites, Wilson and Barmore have been ho hum. Same thing at S. Nobody worthy of a 1st.
