Funny how, a month ago, we were 1-5, had traded away a top player at a fire sale price, surrounded by rumors of trading more veterans, and our coach was supposedly on the hot seat. Then we beat the Packers, in a game where Rodgers had a chance to beat us at the end but uncharacteristically did not, and which many people said he "looked off". But before that game, Rodgers told several reporters how it would be a shame if Mike Zimmer was truly in any danger of losing his job...
Of course Aaron feels that way - you think he minds having Mediocrity Mike in charge of their most consistent rival in this division? Maybe it worried him to imagine Justin Fields under center with a modern-thinking head coach in Minnesota, while he tries to get another title before retiring.
Yes it's a crazy conspiracy theory, but imagine if Rodgers had hung 42 points on the Vikings. No excited talk about the resurgence of the defense (which gives up 28 points a game), the trade rumors would continue, and maybe Rudolph or Smith would be gone. Do you think that team, without the morale boost of the Packer victory, would have won both games against Detroit and Chicago? Doubtful. But now we are out of range of a top QB in this draft and sticking with Zimmer, and Green Bay is 2 games ahead in a division they can likely win with 9 victories this year.
