Ngakoue Traded- Wheels Officially Falling Off

Funny thing is, DE is an area where even the biggest Spielman critic would have to say, he is very good at finding talent that produces. Ray Edwards, Brian Robison, Everson Griffen, Danielle Hunter, Stephen Weatherly, Ifeadi Odenigbo, even DJ Wonnum now - Spielman can find pass rushing DEs. (DTs, OTOH...)
So why did they trade for Ngakoue at all??
ITs been a rumored a potential YN trade to for the last week so I am not too surprised. I am surprised that they were not able to recoup that 2nd round pick. You are right, that is the one position this regime seems to draft well. Wish they could get a QB right.

especially in a covid season where they didnt have to sell tickets.

Wow, wonder what that's about.
That's the million $ question. I can't believe they're tossing in the towel with 10 games left. You want to change that season win/loss projection yet?

YN went from 1/5 team to 5/1. Or maybe the outhouse to the penthouse? I think that his hometown too?

Yeah, I suspect there's more to this than meets the eye.

Baltimore is where he wanted to go all along, he’s probably the vet that asked out,
Spielman got what he could for him rather than watching him walk this offseason for a comp pick... it’s going to be a long season.

For the people saying-- trade more players! Well here's the list. Teams aren't calling about Kirk and Rudy. These players are actually GOOD, therefore they might have some demand. Parting with any of them is going to hurt a lot. So before everyone throws out, "sell everyone!", which of these guys do you move and what for?
And before you say, "NO WAY I'D TRADE _____________," well that's the guy other teams want. Not Bisi.

Im fine with Harris, Smith and Reiff. Kendricks would take a first for me to want him traded. I would keep the youth.

Id also be fine with giving picks for someone to take Cousins.

I am generally optimistic but the towel has been thrown in. They are not going to the playoffs. There will be no Vikings football in January. They are in rebuild and have to start trying to save next season. I hope to see more growth from the rookies for now.

I love this move because it recognizes reality. I believe YN wanted out so they got something for him.  YN was never going to sign with us long term and we could not afford it anyway. See what you have on this roster grab a practice squad guy off another team.  The Vikes need to develop the young talent find a way to get rid of cousins and draft a QB.

This season is the season to Tank and when I say taht I mean to use the season as one long preseason and develop talent for a long run.  You dont have to try to lose just play the youth get them used to the offense and defense and collect draft capital for a move up to get Trevor or whoever.

For those complaining about the Yannick compensation...  let's review.

The Vikings...  coming off a playoff win in New Orleans and trip to the Divisional Round...  thought they would be a playoff team this season.  Giving up what was expected to be a late 2nd and a conditional 5th rounder wasn't much given Yannick's age and pedigree.

Fast forward to now...  injuries have completely derailed the defense and Cousins turned into a pumpkin.  Our OGs look like poo...  and we're 1-5.

You think Yannick wants to stick around here for a rebuild?  He wanted out of Jacksonville because he was tired of losing.  The chances we would be able to sign him long-term coming off what looks to be a bad season are slim to none.

I'm not applauding the Vikings for trading him, but it was smart to get something back for a guy we probably couldn't convince to re-sign with the team.  Yeah, it sucks we are giving up what looks to be an early 2nd for a late 3rd, but the Vikings weren't expecting the team to be 1-5. I don't think any of us fans were either.

Bitter pill to swallow, but at least the Vikings are finally realizing this is a lost season and making moves to help rebuild this team this off-season and next.  Please 11 lb 12 oz baby Jesus let Kirk be the next guy getting traded...  Lol

I’m with others in how you give a 2nd in a high-salary trade without at least a handshake that the player wants to be in your building/bought-in to “the culture”.  you give that much, you expect much  “respect” in return.

Obv YN did not buy in.

Yeah... maybe we were “1 def player away” from improving on last years team.   Why I wanted DB Des King, if we were going to over-pay in fa add to the D. that said. i was excited to count YN and DH being holy terror edge rushers, for years..... worth the 2nd.  lol

We lost AT LEAST 30 draft slots with this miscalculation.  thats yuge, and cant be remedied.
