The top three quarterbacks in the 2021 draft look awesome,.. but the race to be QB4 is heating up.
Zach Wilson is on fire! Mac Jone is killing it. Trask is a winner. I wish Jamie Newman wouldn't have opted out, because it would've been fun to see him play for Georgia. I even think Kellen Mond is worth a look.
Good read here on the QB 4 battle.

Yuck. What a step down from the top 3. Throw a dart with your eyes closed with that group.
Isn't there also a huge step down from #1 (Lawrence)? Fields is a product of the Ohio State stats machine which has produced Dwayne Haskins, Cardale Jones, Braxton Miller, Terrelle Pryor, and Troy Smith, none of whom have translated into a decent NFL QB, and has yet to play this year to build on his single season of play. Lance has a ton of potential but played 1 game this fall and completed 50% of his passes, looked like primarily a running threat, and will come to the NFL with 1 season of FCS experience.
I wouldn't touch Fields. I like Lance but that's partly the Minnesota connection and I think he's a significant gamble. IMO it's still Trevor and a bunch of maybes.

I tend to agree with that assessment. As far as I'm concerned, it's Lawrence and then the rest of the field. However, Fields was neck and neck with Lawrence coming out of HS. He also played for Georgia prior to transferring to OSU. I may have had a different outlook on him had he stayed at Georgia with their more pro style offense, because as you said...that OSU team is a stats machine. Not sure how you can properly grade a player on that.
As for Lance, I'm really intrigued by him, but he looks to be a guy that you need to stash on the bench for a year or two before giving him the reigns. And even then it's a crapshoot of does he turn out to be a Steve McNair or a guy who doesn't pan out. It would also help to have a staff in place that can properly groom a raw talent like that.

Amen to that last comment. I don't see it here.
This recent 'rise' of Mac Jones at Alabama is laughable. Some draftniks trying to sneak him into the 1st round. Ridiculous. Just like Jake Fromm was a top 15 pick in some projections and went in the 5th round, lol.
@stickybuns, Yuck is pretty harsh! I get it you like the top 3 guys, but Lawerence and Fields will go 1 and 2 and Lance might be gone by pick 5.
Zach Wilson is 5-0 this year, BYU is ranked 12th and could run the table the rest of the season (probably a BSC playoff bid). He has heisman hype out the ying yang right now. Remember, nobody thought Joe Burrow would be the #1 pick before the season last year (but he ran the table).
As a true freshman Wilson was 120/182 1578 yards 12 TD 3 picks. In the 2018 Famous Idaho Potato Bowl Wilson was the MVP completing all 18 of his passes for 317 yds 4td. Highlights of that game are worth a look on youtube.
If he checks out at 6'3 at the combine, I think he gets drafted in the first round.
BYU plays Texas State Saturday night on ESPN. Wilson is worth watching. He has a little Johny football and Patrick Mahomes to his game.
John Harris is a sideline reporter for the Houston Texans, he and Andre Ware are both calling Wilson is a first round pick right now.

You may well be right, but IMO if Justin Fields goes #2 it will be just like Robert Griffin going 2nd in 2012: a team that really wanted the unquestionably best QB (Luck in 2012) but fell short, convincing themselves that the runner-up was close even though he was far, far behind..

QBs are always over valued in the draft. They may go 1 and 2, but a board that was built to show how likely a player is to be Great, Good, Average, Adequate, ..... on down to bust it would likely have just Lawrence and then a bunch of other players prior to the next QB and Lawrence likely wouldnt even be the top of the board.

True, but don't forget in that same 2012 draft class Russell Wilson went #75. Brock Osweiler, Brandon Weeden, and Ryan Tannehill were all taken before Russell Wilson.
A diamond like Russell Wilson could be right under our noses in the 2021 class. Remember, Dak Prescott went #135 in 2016.
Keep an open mind, even scouts are wrong.
