Nope. No way. I'm watching South Carolina vs Florida and Trask is supposed to be the #4 QB in the Draft behind the Big 3. If that's true, that's scary because he's so pedestrian. Numbers look good, but the reality is guys are wide open and the offense has talent. I'd much rather just hang with Nate Stanley and see if he can evolve than draft this kid. Big, slow and very average to slightly above average arm. Lacking in mobility.
He's being projected as a 1st round kid....I'm going to guarantee that he doesn't pan out in the NFL.
Great story behind Trask, was a backup QB in high school and now his draft stock is on the rise. Don't think he is a first rounder (3rd round maybe), but if he keeps winning and putting up great stats, who knows? Average arm, no mobility, coaches and teammates love him. Could be an upgrade over Nate Stanley? Stanley has a stronger arm and better deep ball accuracy but Trask might be more accurate on the short to intermediate throws.

Trask was actually a backup HS QB to D'Eriq King, who is now the QB at Miami. I too watched the South Carolina game and wasn't overly impressed by Trask. Could have been one bad game, but nothing really stood out to me. Also, let's not say Nate Stanley has better deep ball accuracy than any Power 5 QB because in the 3 years I watched Nate, his deep ball accuracy was remarkably the most frustrating thing about his game.
@Hawkvile25 D'Eriq King is fun to watch... no shame in being his backup! As a matter of fact, I think highly of Trask for not transferring to another high school. He doesn't seem to have that deva mentality you see in a lot of the young players today.
Trask could very easily move up into the first round discussion this offseason. I'm already seeing comparisons to Daniel Jones. I'm also consistently seeing these "weakness" comments about Trask.
- Decision-making tends to stray into gunslinger territory. Delivers a lot of throws he won’t get away with in the pros.
- Arm strength isn’t bad but it’s not A-grade. This is reflected in his rather average deep ball. Accuracy and velocity are both meh.
- Ball placement seems erratic at times. Too often his throws are behind receivers. Needs to be better about leading them.
- A bit slow in going through his progressions. Sometimes locks onto one receiver rather than looking for another option.
- Spin on the ball is awkward. A lot of his throws come out wobbly, which raises questions about hand size.
I'm not a big Nate Stanley fan but his best quality is his huge arm. Yes, I'm willing to concede that Trask is an upgrade over Stanley and Mannion, but I'm not sure I would invest a first round pick on Trask just yet? I need to see a few more games.
I will take Cousin's deep ball accuracy over Trask's or Stanley's... I just wish Cousins could play big in big moments.

A big arm is rather worthless if there is no accuracy though. Cousins throws a damn good deep ball, and I agree (mostly) about big games. That deep ball vs NO sure was fun though :-)
Having seen several of Trask's games, my guess would be his future lies as a competent backup in the NFL. But then again if Dilfer can start for years, who knows. The impressive kid at Florida is Kyle Pitts. One of the very best TE prospects I have seen in a long while.
