Alright, I know we have a healthy dose of liberals here to help me better understand how this isnt bullshit.
From what I’ve gathered the election officials of MN have moved to allow mail in ballots count up to a week after the election, with or without a postmark?
How is this not the perfect storm for coruption?
Lets say my chosen candidate is 10k votes behind after the election. Whats to stop either parties activists from going to a hot spots of their base to find 10,001 more votes?

My knee-jerk reaction to this is they shouldn't accept those without a postmark.
OTOH, if they get there in time, they get there in time. If they don't? Into the shredder.

I cant come up with a reason why what you wrote shouldnt be how it should go down. I wouldnt shred ballots but I would put ones without postmarks or late postmarks in the dont count bin.
This is the shit that makes people on all sides question results. Its also the kind of thing that gives Trump more latitude when he questions things.
Voting by mail has been going on since the civil war, and hasn't been such an issue. Our fearfull leader is creating issues for his own best interest, its how he works, going to tie it up in court, that has been feaverishly loaded with, as he readily says, "his" judges. For easy reading check the wiki on mail in voting, there are sections on the topic of why and by whom votes are rejected.
Article 1, section 4 of the constituion gives the states the right to decide " times, places and manner" very simple and not an amendment.
Personally I would like to see it opened up for a longer period of time and don't start counting till the end. Shit this is supposed to be best democracy in the world and look what's happening.

You have early voting already (google says since last Friday) Plus yall mailed ballots out to every resident, my folks got theirs Thirsday. Is 6 1/2 weeks to vote not sufficent?
The MN election site says it needs a postmark. The Star Tribune says:
Under an August consent decree, state election officials agreed to accept mail-in ballots arriving a week late, even if they lack a postmark.
...............
Im all about counting votes and letting voices be heard. The whole counting votes after the bell sounds (no postmark) seems crazy to me.
I haven't read what their reasoning is for accepting ballots without a postmark, but I do know that not just "some" but a majority of absentee or mailed-out ballots do not get postmarks at all since they're dropped in drop boxes. It could be that, in the interest of time and staffing, they don't want to have to try to distinguish between dropped ballots and mailed-in ballots.
With the sabotage of the post office, I think it is critical that all votes are counted. Voting by mail is not new. In Minnesota, everyone is being allowed to vote by mail due to Coronavirus. I think health and safety of the people is the most important thing. No one should be denied the right to vote.

I am not in Minnesota, our state starts in another week, but we have pending court cases. One of our political parties and campaigns has challenged everything that local officials have done to give people a safe and easy option to vote. When we moved here in the 90's there were satellite voting centers through out the county open for early voting, we had one at our neighborhood grocery store. We had moved from East TN. to IA and were very impressed with how things worked. Never in that time has there been an issue with voting or voter fraud that was of import, that wasn't caught by the system, but all that has been shut down, took away on Campus voting in 2016 ...
So I see a real contrast with efforts to promote voting between two groups and it pisses me off. If a person is qualified to vote why shouldn't they be allowed to have their vote count? You keep throwing out the term straw-man,( in other pissin matches) but when there is no evidence of "significant" issues, right wingers get all puckered about this one. Shouldn't it be harder exclude a persons vote than it is to count it. Ideally don't you want 100% participation?

So you’re fine with ballots after the election?
Lets not include in the debate the ones that are postmarked prior to the election. I think we agree that those are good to go.

It's not about what I am fine with, it's about the rules and regulations of the state. I do like the idea of the paper trail. There has been issues with voting machines as well. It has been proven that in person voter fraud is a non-issue so we'll see what happens. I think election day should be a holiday though.
